Prize 20 year old publically states he wants to play in English Speaking community.... Savard doesnt make a deal.. but Bealieu does.. Alexandre Picard-Hooper now officially a Sea Dog.. gonna make for two very solid offensive lines to go with a blossoming defense and if Mayer gets adjusted to North America quickly.. Sea Dogs could rise to the top of this division quite quickly

I don't think it's as much of a miss by Savard as much as it is a screw up. Picard-Hooper is the top 6 player that the Rocket are needing and he could have been in a Rocket jersey without costing the team a roster player. Does this team even have a plan for what they want to accomplish this season? Oh wait that's right, they have to wait until Xmas to figure out what they want to do.

He'll cost Saint John a roster player at the draft next year, IMO.
Still, it's time to make something happen. Just something else to be disappointed.

He may actually cost a roster player at the Christmas trade deadline too but I can see at least one of the picks coming back for a roster player they just didn't include because they couldn't right now. Player to be named later type deal

We need an impact forward, an impact coach, and some impact defensemen. Say what you will about the 17's but there were only 2 in the lineup last night and one never got a lot of icetime. Essentially, they played lessard and gervais half the game, and we got schooled.\
Actually thats not totally fair though. I think Jean has these kids so worked up that they are terrified to make a mistake. Hockey is a dynamic game and he has them playing a strict system regardless of what the other team is doing. It was only in the 3rd when they started getting away from Jean's system that they actually started doing a little better

I have always been a Picard-Hooper fan so I am disappointed that he moved to Saint John instead of the Rocket.
Having said that we should probably wait and see which player goes back before deciding if Savard missed the boat.
In all fairness to Savard everyone knew he wanted to move east so I expect every GM would have put in a call to see what the cost would be.
At this point Saint John had more young talent and a higher despiration to add him.
Maybe it was a good deal maybe it wasn't but I would like to see the full package before deciding.

Also, if Hali does in fact snag Pelletier, they need to drop/trade a 20yr old.
Peters or Pridham would be the one let go.......and if thats the case, would anyone think that either player would help this Rocket team?

After the year Prindham had last season (including being an assistant captain) I can't see them letting him go. And in answer to your question I would like to see them add Peters if he was available but would Halifax trade him to the Rocket? I doubt it. There would likely be a couple of teams interested Peters and the Rocket would have to blow the other offers out of the water to get him. Likely he will move for a late 3rd / high 4th which would be worth it IMO. But the ROcket would likely have to offer better than that if they wanted him which would be too much overpayment IMO. Question is few teams in the East need 20's anymore so he is likely gone to the West unless he refuses.

Savard still misses the boat even if players are involved. Picard-Hooper was not playing for them when this trade was made so I don't think they would have gotten alot in return as far as players, if any. But if a player was to be involved what would be wrong with dealing a Lachaine, Locke, Malouin, etc for Picard-Hooper. There are ways to make a trade work when involving roster players like moving players at Xmas or after the season. Even if the deals doesn't work out for Saint John in the long run, at least they are making the moves to improve their team instead of standing pat and waiting to see how things unfold.

It's happened a lot and will continue to happen a lot. It happened with Brannon, everyone knew that deal was in place.

It's the conditional deals involving players that are no longer allowed.
