Frig... fine! LOL.
Keys to the game:
- Calm down with the puck. Our passes weren't on and at times we looked scared with the puck. Half these guys have played in a Memorial Cup final. Nerves shouldn't be an issue tomorrow.
- Val d'Or like to make these nifty plays. Do a better job getting sticks on pucks and getting the puck to a safe area. When we have a chance to get the puck deep, do it.
- 60 minute effort is imperative. We dominated Val d'Or for stretches tonight. Out-race them to the puck and make their guys less dangerous by posessing the puck more.
I think we'll put in a better effort tomorrow night. 5-3 Moose with an empty netter.

The game won't be easy, but I think less miscues with the puck will be made in game 2. Maybe, just maybe, if the right situation comes along they can expose the flat-footed Gazolla at least once for a scoring opportunity.

Hopefully they at least play mediocre tonight. Game 1 was bizarre and a chore to watch. Ducharme really needs to better prepare the kids for Game 2.

The difference last night was Bibeau. Even though we didn't play very well, there were times that we would get a great scoring chance that would have turned the tide of the game but Bibeau came up with the big save when his team needed it every time. On the other side, Fucale was good and made a few great saves himself but couldn't come up with the big one at the right time. Fucale will have to outplay Bibeau tonight and probably throughout the series for us to win.
We also didn't manage the puck very well. Lots of bad passes and turnovers in the neutral zone that VD were able to transition into breakaways and scoring chances.
Andrew Ryan and Brent Andrews need to find their game in a hurry because they were non-factors last night and they are a big part of our offense. We can't afford to only have 1 line producing.
It will be interesting to see how Dom manages the lines tonight. It seems he was trying to balance 3 scoring lines last night but it wasn't overly effective.

Did the Moose really play that bad, or was it the fact that they finally played a good team? Sometimes a good team will make it look like you didn't play your best, when that may not have been the case........the press in the last 10 minutes could have been from the other team letting up, after being up 3 goals. Tonight's game will tell the story of this series.......a few bumps in the road will show what kind of character your team is made of. Should be a good one.

I agree that Bibeau was very solid on the times we did get some good chances, but I wouldn't say Fucale couldn't come up with the big save when needed. He made tons of them IMO, we really let VD in on some great chances. I know you aren't blaming him, but at 2-1 and 3-1, we were really playing crappy and Fucale was making all kinds of saves to keep it that close based on the quality chances he was facing. IMO the biggest flaw in our the mooseheads game was they lacked intensity, especially the defense. Too many casual plays were letting VD get chances they shouldn't have had. Up front, the forwards sort of threw the puck around without a purpose at times, sort of expecting the goals to just happen. I think the early Ehlers goal maybe made us relax a bit too much and forget that this will be a battle. Hopefully we put them back on their heels tonight. If VD put in another strong game, so be it. They are a great team who scored more goals than we did, in a tougher division. We may find we are indeed the underdogs in this series quickly. That said, we didn't see a very good team effort last night and we should be much better.

Well obviously VD is a very good team, is the best team they've played in the playoffs so far, so Halifax not being able to do to them what they did to PEI and Gatineau is understandable. The play in the first period last night was fairly even, despite Halifax being down 2-1. An in the 3rd period, Halifax carried the play. They were able to set up Drouin for a number one-timers from the slot on the 5on3 PP in the 3rd, Drouin just didn't get everything on the shots. Give him those chances again and I'm sure he buries one of them. But for the first 2/3's of the 2nd period, Halifax couldn't do anything right. They couldn't get out of their own end, and if they did get it out, they couldn't get it in VD's end. Bad decisions where to pass the puck, and just bad physical passes killed them. Tonight, I expect Halifax to start the game with their 'regular' top 3 lines. I'd also guess that Bailey will sub in for Lovell. Lovell struggled last night and I'm not sure he played after VD's 2nd goal when Lovell lost his man in front of the net.

It will be interesting tonight for sure.

The Foreurs played well, they made the Mooseheads look bad at times.
The Mooseheads need to play smarter positionally, and other things they need to clean up if they are to advance further. If they can score a couple early on, they should be more relaxed and better able to play their game. They weren't used to seeing a team come into the Metro Centre and do to them what they did to them. During long wining streaks, sometimes you lose focus, especially after the success the team has had the last couple of years. Probably 1 or 2 of the Val D'Or goals Fucale might have wanted back.
I, like just about everyone else on here, expect a much better effort from the Mooseheads tonight. If anything, the Foreurs got their attention. It was only 1 game last night, so I'm not worried, yet. If they lose tonight, it'll be; "Uh oh".

Not predicting a score since I'm missing this one, since I have to work but all I can say is I hope the Moose are a lot better and at least get the split to force a 5th game at home; never ever count us out I'm expecting a much better effort tonight this team always responds after having a bad game just the way Dom teams work.
