Who do we currently have that is best suited to play on the top line with Mo and Walker?
These two players are two of the better players in the league this season, and I really am stuck in wondering who the Rocket have that they can toss out on that top line.
Cliche has had a try........and I don't feel as he's their yet.
IMO, the options they have are:
Latal- They can put the top 3 all on one line, and im sure they'll have success, but with Latal on the 2nd line it really gives the team two lines that can really be dangerous.
Locke- He has the skill, but has been struggling so far. Why not try him up front and see how he gets along......and not just for 1 period. Cliche had plenty of games this season up on the #1 line, give Locke a couple straight games as well.
Lachaine- Why not? Besides that fact that he's a natural centerman, he has decent skill, and he has wheels. What can it hurt? MacLean can center the 3rd line, and DesRoches can center the 4th.
My point is, the season is 9 games in, and we have yet to have a set top line...........that needs to be fixed, IMO.

Honestly we don't have a top 2 line talent on out roster right now, but using what we have I say try LaChaine first....then if that does not work, try Locke (hes hurt now anyway so if we were to try immediately LacChaine would be my candidate). I hate to see Latal and Kana split up, but maybe spot Latal in on the top line a few times each game

IMO Lachaine would be the best fit from our current roster. He is more of setup guy with offensive skill who could really feed Morrison & Walker. Plus Lachaine is responsible defensively and has great wheels.
Latal is a great player but I really like him on the second line with Doyle and Kana as it gives us two dangerous lines.
As for Locke he is certainly a possability but I like him a lot better at centre rather than on the wing and thing he would be the best fit on our third line (GETTING REGULAR ICE TIME) with McKinley & Gallant.

Fuck it we only play 7 forwards anyhow.. load up the top unit and save your job Yannick.. Latal is the answer
in all seriousness Latal is the answer... when he is on that top line they score at will.... problem is our second line is pretty bare then

try him on coon_come on first line. it has to be him or locke when he gets back. i think locke would pick up his game on that line. and please, stop talking about cliche, the kid is just not good enough. i see players every week playing jr. b that he could not hold a candle too. time to give it a rest on him.

Walker-Mo-Doyle Kana-Coon-come-Latal With the players they have now, I would go with these combinations for the top 2 lines even when Locke comes back. A couple of things they need to do in regards to the forwards: 1) trim down the forward roster. Right now they are carrying 16 forwards and with Jean hardly playing the 4th line, these kids need to play. MacLean, Desroches, Wright all need to play, not good to have them sitting in the stands but sending them to Jr A will allow them to play in game situations. Either send them down or move some of the other players to give these guys some ice time. 2) although this adds another forward to the mix, they need a top 6 forward. There are enough bodies on the roster where they can come up with some kind of package to make a deal for a top forward. Should take into account that they have a few 19 yr old forwards who likey won't be back next year, get something for them now.

I agree about the roster trimming........we have too many players that are capable of playing on the 3rd/4th line regularly that sit each game. Wright will be sent down, thats a no brainer. At the trade deadline, we will see some of these players shipped out.....and perhaps make room for a top line forward as you said.

How about trading for a power forward like Joey Haddad after 15 games his stats are 5 goals and 11 assists better than a point per game, maybe trade Swit for him straight up.

Makes me wonder what kind of team we would have had we kept players like Haddad and Dubuc who couldn't play under Jean but yet play well for another coach. It remains to be see whether or not Haddad can keep up the scoring, but right now we could be using that kind of scoring. I remember when Dubuc was here that it was protrayed that Dubuc was the problem, but another coach is able to get good hockey out of him, so was it the coach or the player?
