I don't have to work in an NHL head office...I just don't have my head up my ass like you... It would be dumb for Halifax to gamble on Ehlers being back, they need to rebuild and him and Fucale are their only big chips. Plus they'll need to draft a Euro for Meier in 2016, would be easier to use their fairly early pick in 2015 instead of passing on it. With Ehlers being a first rounder, they don't have to pass on their pick. If he comes back, they can trade him or Meier and keep the new guy. Still don't think it's worth the risk, but it would be their loss if he sticks. The word around Winnipeg is they feel after another year of filling out he'll be NHL ready, he can play the game at that level but his body wasn't ready this year.

Nobody has more first hand knowledge of NHL scouts/GM inner conversations than Billy. He is the Q's "Murph" of the NHL world.

What's the word around Flin Flon? Apparently they'll take The Pas on him full-time until 2016-17.

Another chance to use the ratio calculator.
Ehlers has 30 points in 18 games. Averaged out, if he were to have played 63 games this year like he did last year, that equates to a 105 point season. Last year he had 104 points. So it isn't like he's nothing without Drouin.
Just an observation. I too would like to see the Moose get value for him, but I know that it's a longshot.

Love to see Halifax finally on the right end of these rebuild trades. It will be a longshot until they finally start doing some.

If Fucale gets invite to Team Canada selection camp will be interesting to see how goaltending goes. From what I gather its 11-15 DEC.

Fucale will get an invite, and will have to have a horrid camp to not get a spot. I think we should expect Fucale to be gone for about a month, and that's if he's not traded. I'm not sure it's unreasonable to think that December 6th could be his last game with Halifax.

Forgot about this, but Fucale is 2nd ALL TIME in Q goaltender wins. He is only 18 wins away from beating Cloutier's record. What a difficult record to break should he get there (will likely need a trade to a contender). He has played a ton of games since his 16 year old season and on some good/great teams to get this close. You really need the perfect storm of being good right away/getting the starts/have good teams.
I'd love to see him break it if he is traded. Though with the World junior tourney possibly taking away a month, maybe its impossible now.
I wonder if he does hold the record for wins vs. games played, where he has missed multiple time for multiple international tournaments along the way too.

According to hockedb, Cloutier played 222 games in the Q, winning 142. Winning % of .639
Fucale has played 183 games, winning 124. Winning % of .677

Playing in the League at 20 is a big advantage in this type of record.
