I agree that somethng has to be done with the D but even suggesting, breathing the word of Southy in a trade is way out to lunch and shows the frustration of the fans. Sure the trade value would be high, hell every team would be on the phone, but remember people he is only 17, sometimes we forget that because of how he plays. He is second in scoring, 2 in +/-, second in penalty minutes. He is not the problem with the D, the problem is that the other three D are put in positions and situations that they don't have the experience for and we lack the depth to pair them with experience. Southy is a 1st line, 2nd line D who needs to be paired with an experienced D so that he can develope just like the other three. Groom him to be the offensive D, he will make mistakes but in time he will develope, Grags didn't become Grags over night, it takes time and patience and I think Southy could be it. He is a blue chip D in this league, trade, forget it and slap yourself for suggesting such a thing.

Put it this way if you trade Southy I think Saint John would love to have him ;D ANY team would love to have him. Southy is a player that is untouchable this season......and for someone to even mention his name in a trade is ridiculous. If this is a go for it year, than no one is untouchable as part of a trade to improve the team for a run, including Southorn, whos play this year has been very spotty compared to last year (likely a reflection of the entire D this year). If you go for it and add the pieces you need to make a run Southy will likely be part of a future consideration trade (you don't have many assets to swap and Doyle being local won't be moved). I know this won't play well but unload this year and reload for next keeping your young assets and stockpilin others is the best option (at this stage anyway)

I partly agree with you on the defense situation.
I think they have there offensive situation in hand with Southhorn watching him come out of our end reminds me of grags and as time goes on he will get better.
On the defensive side you will have to say trade either Malouin or Deighan both have trouble clearing the puck/man in front of the net too many give aways. And yes Lessard is just a guilty at least when Swit was playing he could move the puck out of the end as all he ever did was shoot it off the glass reminded me of Boutin.. If he was a 19 year old player I think he might be still on the roster.
But if Micalef would start doing his job and start working with the defense on taking out the man ( instead of trying to poke the puck off their stick ) they would have to dump the puck in instead of just skating around our defense and going to the goal.
We are going to lose our top scorers next year and if we acquire any new defensive play chances are he will be gone also as he will have to be a 19 / 20 year old.
Our defense is young and lets keep it that way for this year if Micalef works to develop their skills that got them drafted to this team things should turn around for next year after all we are going to need at least four most 20 plus goal scores next year.
If these are the players they wanted then work with them.
Finishing third this year behind the Eagles and the Moose will be no shame considering the team they have this year. But finishing behind the fog devils and sea dogs well that could be something else.

Teams have coaches for a reason. They are not their just to open the bench door...... The D needs help, no question. A player needs to be added as most know, and the D we have now are playing in situations that they shouldn't. However, they look lost out their. All of them. They all cough up the puck, they can't make a pas out of the zone, and the D zone coverage is terrible. As mentioned, they look lost. This is where Micalef is coming into the picture.

With the way things are going for you guys now you'll be lucky if it's only the Sea Dogs and Fog Devils that finish ahead of you.

I'm surprised the new coach went with the same forward lines that lost to the Fog Devils. He did shake-up the top line during the third period of that 3-0 loss, so I thought for sure he would bring that to the next game. I still think he will change things around, just give him some time!

You put 40+ shots on the net...yeah sure you lost but why change things?? You dont have to completely blow it up after every loss.

40+ shots but only a few were of any quality.....moving around some talent is hardly "blowing it up" and as a new head coach, why shouldn't he.....especially if he's introducing a new system!

That would be nice to get him, but im not betting on it. Come Christmas time, if the team is still struggling, I expect to see the Rocket sell.......especially Mo.

I stil dont see the point in changing all the lines because you ONLY had 40 shots on net... Yeah not all were high quality but its not like if you change the lines youre going to score 10 goals.
