The 12th Seed Halifax Mooseheads take on the #2 Seed Moncton Wildcats. Well well well here we are again the Mooseheads are in another 7 game series, and for the Fourth consecutive year trying to make the final four. I could go into the stats and wins and losses and debate are these teams closer than their Year End Seedings say. I can also go on about injuries, divers, refs, fairness, car shows and whatever someone may think is important.
But this is one game winner goes on. Mooseheads already have most fans pleased to the effort put fourth at this point, but for myself and many fans it's not about the Presidents Cup/Memorial Cup every year its about watching a product we can be proud of.
So no matter what happens today WIN OR LOSE. we already have Four Consecutive year we can be PROUD when the final whistle blows.
Sorry if I jumped on someone toes by making this thread, thought I would give a go at my first GDT thread.
Lets Do this MOOSE

All bets are off. This really can go any way. I for one wouldn't bet against the Moose but I sure wouldn't bet on them either. It will be a close game and I think the final score will be either 4-3 or maybe 5-2 for the winner.(I'm not picking a team).
Here's what I want to know though. Win or lose this game tonight does everyone agree it's a big win for Halifax? Really who thought thy would beat the 5th overall team to 7 and then the number 2 team to 7 as well? I sure didn't. Like I said win or lose Halifax wins. Let's be honest here they're playing with house money now. Anything more then tonight is bonus right?

The Moose may or may not have a good team the next 2-3 years. But the experience they've gained playing 14 games in these playoffs is such a boost to our rookies going forward. Crazy to think this is our 16th game of the year against Moncton. It really is a coinflip tonight. Both teams have shown on multiple occasions that they can dominate a game. It all depends on which teams show up. Either way, it's been an entertaining ride. Hope we can squeeze out one more good effort tonight. Go Moose!!

I think the first goal is critically important. If Halifax gets it, Moncton will begin to panic ... if Moncton gets it, I think they'll build off that momentum as they did in Game 5.
Either way ... both goaltenders have to bring their best.

Go Moose!! and you've predicted Moncton to win 17 of them Of course no matter what happens it's a win for Halifax overall...... junior hockey games can be decided by the best players more often than not... and Halifax have had either the best player or certainly one of the top 3 players in the league overall for 4 years now I think two scenarios are possible tonight 1)Moncton wins handily or 2) game goes to OT and all bets are off

I think as strange as it might sound, I think our best chance of winning will be to have a tight game into the third. That is when both teams tighten up in fear of making the series ending mistake. We would have less pressure on us, I think, in a close game in the third than Moncton would. It would essentially come down to a "next goal wins" type feeling, like in Shawinigan. I think having a 2-3 goal lead into the third would in a sense be worse lol. Moncton would throw absolutely everything they have at us at that point and a goal or 2 would completely put us on our heels and get the crowd fired up. Of course I want us to take a big lead, but it would probably make for a more pressured finish. Of course win or lose, it was a successful playoff run. If Moncton come out and take the game convincingly, so be it. I am not sure how much we could have left at this point. I would LOVE to knock off our rival and get another 3rd round playoff spot, but I also don't look forward to being trampled by Rimouski in all likeliness. A loss will sting, but I can easily move on to enjoy NHL playoffs and baseball season. But that is still my second choice Hoping for a good game, and not a Moncton blowout to take all the drama out of it. Neither goalie has really had standout games yet, hopefully Brassard can put one together now. Moose 4-3 win, with a late goal by Moynihan on a rebound.

I don't think there is less pressure on one team vs another. You as a fan probably feel less pressure than I do because you have lower expectations this year ... but I think all of the players are facing the same pressure of having their season end ... some of them are playing their final game in the uniform they wear. Nobody wants to lose when you are this close to moving on.

Sure I think both teams want to win, and feel they can win - but like the fans, there is probably more of a "give it your all, we have come this far when nobody thought we would" mentality in the moose room, versus more fear or panic in the Moncton room that they are in this position when they likely felt they should have won this already. Plus playing in front of your fans can be a big boost, but also lead to more pressure if the game isn't going well.

But at this point now that hasn't been applied yet. Both teams know they can win ... both have proven that in the 6 games played already. I think the pressure to win is equal right now for the players ... but probably not for the fans.

Can anybody remember a series where the heavy underdog won the first 2 games on the road, then lost the middle 3, only to win out the last 2 games to take a series in 7?
Seems like a very rare possible scenario, especially in a 2 vs 12 series.

Go Moose Go, another game I'm excited for but also really nervous for, 3-2 Halfax Meier with the winner. Really though I'd be thrilled with a another final 4 appearance, but if we lose as disappointed as I'll be you have to be proud of this group they just won't give up. (By the looks of twitter, lots of Moose fans going to Game 7 so the team will have support on the road as well as those back in Moose Country cheering on via the radio, Eastlink, the webcast) Our biggest key tonight has to be Brassard and committing to solid team defence, and discipline will also be a huge factor I think. Hopefully Gads is a big more game ready now and we will see maybe get Fortier and Hunter back. (We've already won one Game 7 on the road this post-season)

Seems like a very rare possible scenario, especially in a 2 vs 12 series. The Halifax team was decimated badly by injuries in games 4 and 5 - the surprise is the first two games not the rest of the series. Halifax caught them sleeping and it gave them enough energy to think they could compete the whole series. As for the future. The young D on Halifax will all be a year older with this experience in the bag. They may not be as terrible a team as people say. They will have new players - new goalie perhaps - Meier will be back too but they will not be 10 points worse than this team.

Go Moose Go, another game I'm excited for but also reallu nervos for, 3-2 Halfax Meer with the winner.
