You raised very good points. The price we pay currently(STH, Flex or general admission) is more than reasonable for this level of hockey, at least this is how I see it.There is a core selection of long time season ticket holders around our area and what we are hearing is a wait and see for the new facility. Many are concerned about the increase ticket cost and as well cost associated with parking and will not renew as STH if the price to much - as they see it . Not to mention concessions(beer, coffee, food, snacks etc). Since the start of QMJH Cats 1996, we probably have been spoiled with ample free parking and reasonable ticket prices. It's gonna be interesting for sure..... I think the good news for Moncton fans is, Since RKI took over, the team seems to have a philosophy that they have to keep things affordable for families, heck then stocked the schedule for weekends and had 4pm Saturday games, from the start they had cheap concessions and a lot of deals on tickets plus giveaways to schools. I hope they are smart enough to do the math in terms of the cost of bringing families to the rink, including concessions and parking. If it's not affordable then they will lose a chunk of that market. They must have some kind of plan on parking, the city doesn't seem to worried, but the team would... Theres been rumors about a parking garage going behind where that old ice factory was that had the fires a few years back. Heritage court has around 1000 spots that are the most part not used after 5pm and weekends. Getting access to those would be a huge help. Heritage manangment would likely want to setup a booth and charge due to the added maintenence needed on their lot. The city's plans have a note for a potential tunnel underneath the CN tracks so people can cross easily. With the money involved in this project there is no half assing it. Right now the city knows of between 50-60 million dollars of development planned within a 1 km radius of the centre over the next few years. Once some of these projects get started people will start to understand the impact this facility will have on our city.

since the ground work has already started, just wondering why part of high field square and that old red brick building are still standing. also , does any one know what that bricked building was? never really noticed it before. seems odd that every thing on the site wouldn't be leveled at the same time. I believe there was a purolator call centre inside that building most recently but i dont believe its occupied anymore. Purolator was formerly housed in the former Met Department Store , which was demolished when the City brought down Highfied Square .

when they announced the new codiac center, i thought that a multi level parking garage should be built in the highfield square parking lot by the subway. i understand that the owner of crown plaza bought the old acadian lines bus depot property on bonnacord street. thus making the possible construction of pedways built to join the crown plaza, the new hotel on bonnacord and the parking garage to the new center. saint john and halifax are nice to visit because you park the car and don't have to worry about weather to and from the game.

looking at your diagram, curious to ask what are the two yellow buildings in the east end of the old highfield square parking lot by the subway?

Its a parcel of land for sale."Parcel b" You can see in the walk-thru video they put them in just for perspective. Theres already been unsolicited responses from a few developers in it. They would prefer if someone would use it for a combination of retail and residential. So maybe something with a couple restaurants/bars in the bottom and apartments up top. I hope the buildings end up that tall. Its much needed depth.

With the Times and Transcript publishing a story on the naming rights for the new events centre , what would you like it to be called?
A few great suggestions have popped up on Twitter. One being the Roger Claus Centre of Giving. Hilarious.

Shouldnt be too many complaints of comfort at the new facility. Regular seats are 20 inches in width (as big as the roomiest seats available at the ACC) and club seats will be 22 inches
This will be by far the best facility in the maritimes once complete. I'd imagine we will see lots more road fans coming in to take in the action due to the location in the city and the facilities themselves.

Assuming Moncton bids on the next Q hosted Memorial Cup, which I assume they are since the building should be ready for that season and they are building their team for that season and hosting gives Moncton a 1 in 4 chance to win which is what Irving really wants, I can't see the Q not awarding Moncton the next Memorial Cup. They will want to show off the great new facility Moncton and the league has and Moncton is building for that year. It will likely be the second best facility in the Q and one of a few teams that has the assets to host the Memorial Cup. I see Saint John bidding for it but I'm not sure who else. A lot of teams are likely out as a result of having too small of Arenas and I think Quebec and Shawinigan are likely out since they hosted more recently and Shawinigan will likely be in a rebuild. Maybe Halifax will bid since they should have good team.

I bet the building ends up named after one of the Irving Companies Which is fine, as long as they sell the naming rights - Kent Events Center, or Majesta Complex wouldn't sound bad. I hope they name something inside the facility after Ian Fowler - a meeting room, practice facility, something.
