Is Bilia better than Belanger? I'm not confident in that. I don't think Cape Breton needs another ho-hum 19 year old goalie.
Edit-
I wonder if there is a deal to be had with Quebec and Callum Booth? I know he (supposedly) blocked a trade to Halifax last year and is unlikely to want to report to CB. But perhaps he could be convinced, another possible shot at a Mem Cup for him, only this time as the #1 guy.

The main problem with Belanger is he's 20 and is he really good enough to take up an impact position? Bilia was the only goalie in that age range I could think off off the top of my head.

Montembault should be targeted at Xmas if Belanger doesnt get the job done. BLB is taking a step back this year and have decent up and coming goalies. He would cost atleast a prospect a 1st and a 2nd.

That's what everyone said about BLB last year! And the year before ... and the year before that. Off topic, but am I alone in thinking that BLB may be the single best manged team in the league? They don't get a lot of attention on these boards because they're not in our division, but I don't know another team that has been as consistently good as the Armada.

Gatineau and Rimouski never seem to go off the Radar very far . Both Rimouski and Gatineau are model franchises for sure. However I find Gatineau's resource management in recent years to be slightly reckless. Rimouski hasn't had a down year since like 2010-2011.

Gatineau especially Blainville are very well managed for sure but seem reluctant to ever truly go for it

Is there a summer trade period, or has it already taken place during the draft? My understanding was that there was a trade period in August, but am wondering if that still exists.

Yes there is another trade period that usually runs around the same time as training camp. Also 20 year olds and Euros can be traded at anytime.

The article rubbed me the wrong way.
It's nothing against Peyton Hoyt or the fact that he's excited about going to CB, that is a pretty good story for the fans to read.................... but to write that and not even acknowledge the Shane Bowers question marks just seems like the CB post giving the Eagles a fluff piece in the sports section to distract people from the potential 'Bowers situation'
It's nice to report the good but you should at least ask about the bad.

There is a reason that nobody is saying anything about Shane Bowers right now - Same thing happened for weeks leading up to the draft after the decision to decline Joseph Veleno initially. Nobody said anything but there was plenty going on behind the scenes the entire time and such is the case for Bowers.
As far as Peyton Hoyt I've seen a lot of Hoyt over the past couple of seasons and I think this is a very good pick for Cape Breton. I've had the chance to speak to several scouts about Hoyt leading up to the draft and the Challenge and Hoyt was right up there with Bowers at the event. I'm not suggesting he's a better prospect long term than Bowers but he really impressed scouts there.
