Gallant tuned manson
I dont even think Milse played
Good effort again.. not quite as solid as Wednesdays was and Shaw definitely looked like the tail end of a 3 in 3... but they are gonna be strong in a year or two.. lots of good young talent there, especially like Vandall and Bourque
Thought macKinley continued his strong play tonight.. Southorn was very good as welll... main was great.... but Latal right now is just an offensive play killer... dunno what needs to be done there but please do it quick

I thought it was a good game tonight, it seems like the Rocket have put it together the last 2 games. Shawinigan came out hitting to start the game, but in the third period they looked like a team that played their 3rd game in 3 nights, I liked how they were moving the puck on the power play though.
Main played a good solid game and so did Southorn, the 2 of them have stepped it up lately and the Rocket need them to keep doing that. Gelinas was solid as he made some nice saves. I thought that the 3rd & 4th lines played well and had some good shifts this game, kept the puck deep in the offensive zone and were making things happen. They keep that up, there will be no reason why they shouldn't be rewarded with more ice time.
I Like Doyle and is a good player, but if there is something that needs working on is that at times his shot is way off the mark, when he misses the net it's not even close at times. He has a hard shot and quick release but it's not going to matter if you can't put it on net consistently.
If Latal doesn't get it in gear I think he should some time on the 3rd or 4th lines and if that doesn't work, sitting in the stands a game or two wouldn't hurt him either. When he skates and stick handles into the offensive zone he never protects the puck and is usually getting knocked off the puck or is having it taken off his stick. He does the same moves and plays that he did when he first arrived here, I get the impression that he isn't working on improving his game or trying to add to it. Perhaps a case of someone's head getting too big for his helmet?

Anybody know why Walker didn't play tonight? He was walking around the rink and looked healthy. Thought maybe the coach benched him after him taking that penalty the other night. I would have assumed if he was suspended a game it would have been in the paper or on the Q site.

I think you are only allowed a certain # of them a season, then suspensions start.

I think the rule is if a player incurs 4 game misconducts, he is suspended for one game. If you look at the score sheet for the last game against Cape Breton, it looks like he was assessed a double game misconduct. I know he had at least one in a game earlier in the season and perhaps he had acquired another one at another time and that might be a reason why he was not playing. I'm not saying that's the case, but it's a possibility.

1,000 and counting Rocket coach Guy Chouinard hits milestone in win over the Shawinigan Cataractes CHARLES REID The Guardian
It was a game of seconds.
Not of time, but of streaks as the P.E.I. Rocket had its second straight good outing — this time a 4-1 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes — for backup goalie Marc-Antoine Gélinas making his second straight start.
Friday’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game at the Civic Centre was also Rocket head coach Guy Chouinard’s 1,000th game as a QMJHL coach.
And Chouinard is the second man to each the mark in league history. St. John’s bench boss Real Paiement is the other.
So will Chouinard, now with a league all-time best 520 wins, relax on his couch with a favourite beverage and reflect?
“You could be right on one of those,” Chouinard said with a laugh. “When you look back your memory goes so far back. But with a game like tonight I think what you take in is the good times you had because in the coaching business there are always some ups, but also some downs, that come with it.”
Chouinard, 51, is the second oldest coach in the league while Shawinigan head coach Eric Veilleux, 35, is one of the youngest.
An even first period ended in more than a 1-1 tie as the teams were almost equal in power plays (three for Shawinigan, four for P.E.I.) and shots (Cats, 15; Rocket, 13).
Shawinigan’s Pierre-Alexandre Vandall potted his 15th while P.E.I.’s Bryan Main marked his second on the year.
Matthew Lachaine scored the lone goal in the second period on a breakaway pass from Charlottetown’s Chris Doyle while the teams played four-on-four.
Then a stingy Gélinas took over, stopping all 10 shots he faced.
In the third, Shawinigan pressed, but Summerside’s Nathan DesRoches, who scored his first as a Rocket, added insurance and Doyle tallied an empty-netter to end the scoring.
Chouinard had scouted the Cataractes in Moncton on Friday and credited the Telus Division squad for its hard work, despite playing the third game of the three-in-three-night stretch in the Eastern Division.
He patted his rookie goaltender on the back a little, too.
“It seemed that at one point in the hockey game, we looked more tired than them, but I think that Gélinas made the saves that he had to make to keep us in,” said Chouinard.
Gélinas made 33 saves, earned the game’s first star and improved to 6-3. Shawinigan goalie Kevin Maletto dropped to 10-11 and stopped 29 shots.
P.E.I. is now 5-2-1 against the Telus Division. The Rocket leaves for Saint John at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

I was quite happy to see Desroches getting a more regular shift last night... He got by far the most ice time he's seen this season and that was before he got his first goal..
It was good to see that, on the night when Chouinard seemed to show he was gaining trust in him, he rewarded the team with a big goal.

decent result against a team as weak or weaker than ourselves that played their third game in three nights. it would have been nice to win by a bit more convincing result , but hey a win is a win and can only help our guys get a little bit more of their cofidence back.
our pk i think is doing very well and some nice solid checks were happening. all in all have to be pleased with how things are going. a little disappointed in the number of fans there. with the early bird tourney on i was expecting 2500 plus. tuesday should be a great crowd though as moncton draw big anyways and its redemption night.
lets hope for a solid effort sunday and see u at the rink tuesday. what a nice ring that has...

In hockey it's called a slump and your guesswork is as factual as some of your play descriptions. I’m sure the coach will figure something out.
