I'm afraid we still don't understand most of what you are saying, so I'll comment on the stuff I can(understand). It's pretty obvious that Latal is not playing anywhere near he potential, but who are you(and others) to judge his character by saying he(and Doyle) has an ego problem. You don't even know these kids, so how can you just blame there inconsistent play on their egos. There are many other factors involved in poor performance like player health and coaching systems. This applies to the entire Rocket team! So what makes u think I don't know any of the players? Its not hard to tell who has ego problems Doyle barly makes a pass he always shoots so there for he is only playing for him self and latal look at his ego a player like that shouldn't be fighting when he can't fight to begin with for one. Latal is playing sloppy hockey and mostly everyone on here would agree. Looked at some stats in the month of Nov latal played 9 games assisted on 2 goals and no goals The month of Dec hey played 4 games with one assist. All's i am trying to say is he needs to step up As much as I disagree with some of your personal analysis of both players, I do have to agree with your summary. They both need to step it up and play to their potential and make this a better team for 2008. Seasons’ Greetings

Who watched the Czech vs Canada game on Boxing Day?
I thought it was cool to see Latal playing for his home country.
Gord Miller couldnt pronounce his name, he was saying it like Martin Lay-tall. It was annoying.

Years ago there was a player named Jiri Latal who played for the Philadelphia Flyers and his name was pronounced the way that Miller was saying it, so it's possible there are different pronunciations for that name.

I remember that - the pronounciation was wrong then, and it's wrong now. Pronouncing the syllable "LA" as "LAY" is strictly an English-language thing, as in "Label", "Later", and "Lace". It's "LAT-TAL". English-speaking announcers have been massacring names for decades.....usually, though, it's French ("foreign") names like "Marty Broder", "Mario Lem-Yoo", "Morris Ree-Shard", "Bernie Jeffrey-Yon", "John Belly-Vo", "Ben-Waa Hoag", and "Donald Odd-ette". The announcers don't care, and it shows - if it's not in English, then it's not worth learning the proper pronounciation. It's a frigging disgrace.

first time I've seen that forehand-backhand work in a while. Save some of that for us Marty. Or should I say Mr. LAH-DEL.

Just hope when he comes back he puts more effort into his play here. IT's not like he was not putting an effort in IMO.... At times players lose their confidence. Their play goes downhill. Happened to Lafleur, happened to Latal, it happens to everyone at times. I just hope that his good performance at this Championship will give him the boost that he needed.

I agree I hope Latal comes back full of confidence and gets back to playing his game and not chirping guys, fighting, taking stupid penalties and killing breakouts It would go a long way to us putting together a real strong second scoring unit

Here's my take on Latal's recent play.....
In response to questionable defensive play, Chouinard penalized him with cutting his ice time, and limiting his PP and PK time. That's fair, and particularly fair considering that Chouinard placed much focus on forwards helping out, etc. when he took over.
The thing about taking away Latal's PP and PK time is that you're taking away his prime offensive minutes (PP) and the time where he creates turnovers (on the forecheck on the PK).
You could argue, "what has he done to earn back the ice time", but I think if he gets thrown back into an expanded role after the WJHC, we'll see his game improve. He needs PK and PP time to be at his best.
I hope the message has been sent. I think his low production will really hurt his contract negotiations with Phoenix. He needs a strong second half to redeem himself.
I'd give him top end ice time upon his return and be optimistic of seeing results.

Are you an alien or something?
