It's a fair trade for a guy who scored 29 goals as a 16 year old. That's 13 more goals than anyone on the Cats had last year. You mean he had even more than the guy we traded back to acquire in Campanelli? NO say it isn't so 😜

If you think we can flip Grametbauer and few others for decent picks at the deadline it could be a better trade

If you think we can flip Grametbauer and few others for decent picks at the deadline it could be a better trade Grametbauer and Welsh could be attractive options for contending teams at mid-season. If Tessier continues to play like he did last season then he could get a good return as well. They may want to keep him as a 20 for 18/19 though.

Pardon my ignorance on the draft, as not into it as some of you chaps are and good on ya. Why is it high end prospect players like Jacques and that Russian don't show up or say they are coming but later don't bother. Isn't there any research done( if there is such a thing) on the chances of them coming here or is they draft in hope of a persuasive conversation.

Can't help but get even more pissed at our Euro situation though and to a lesser extent the Miromanov no show. Just look at the talent we would have up front if Miromanov, Khovanov had shown up to go with Pelletier, Cyr, Tessier, and now Macdonald If everybody had shown up(Jacques Khovanov Miromanov), this deal likely doesn't happen. Cats would be much better off...

If you think we can flip Grametbauer and few others for decent picks at the deadline it could be a better trade Even more crucial with the Jacques/Khovanov situation and MacDonald trade(losing two 1st rounders), they have to stick to the plan at midseason and shop all 19 and 20 year olds. Doesn't mean they do a fire sale like last Dec/Jan, but at least move the top 2-3 that you can hit a home run with, add 3-4 good building blocks. Mostly leaving the rest intact and giving a few young guys bigger roles. They could have as many at 7 19 year olds, this can be cut to 4-5. Welsh could be an attractive player as OA much like Neil last season in Sherbrooke.

It seems to be a fair trade value wise based on the fact that he scored 29 goals as a 16 year old but I am terrified that he is going to regress and never score 29 goals in a season again. Hopefully it turns out well for Moncton and MacDonald.

Moncton better hope that they are a mid pack team this year so that the first rounder isn't a top pick.

I'm not too worried about the 2019 1st but 2018 is a concern, I think they could be bottom 6-7 unless a few guys take a big step...though adding a potential 25-30 goal scorer will help. Grametbauer Welsh Desjardins Mirmomanov/other OA plus hopefully a few FA help them get to mid pack...

We just traded for Anderson macdonald. Price was heavy by what does everyone think? Happy? Pissed Not a wildcats fan but if I was id be really pissed. He was drafted in 2016. A draft where you guys got nothing from. He does not fit your core at all although no offense but you guys don't really have a core at this point in time. all this is is a GM under some heat that wants to do something big to get himself out of it even though any fan with a brain in there head can understand this trade made zero sense.

How do we not have a core on our team? Pelletier, Bellamy, MacDonald, Cyr is now the core of our team

Ideally they would have drafted him in 2016 instead of the Campannelli shenanigans. Obviously the price would have been a lot lower. In terms of the core, I think the team can be pretty good next year(6-10 overall) and top 3-4 in 19-20 with the current core, so he fits that timeframe unless he cracks the NHL at 18 or 19. Obviously not having Khovanov hurts those two years.

How does a 17 year old not fit the core of a team? Assuming he exits the league after his 4TH year in the league which he probably will. What building blocks do you guys have to put around him 3 years from now. 1 or 2? I know you can trade for some my point was just that you don't have anything to put around him at this point

They just paid the price of a top rental 4 months from now for a 3 or 4 year player who already has proven scoring ability. What core in the league does that not fit into? Only any team not wanting to win over those 3 or 4 years...
