Congrats to former Islanders Alexandre Goulet and Oliver Cooper who were part of the UNB squad that won the Canadian University championship 4-2 over University of Alberta last night.
Coop scored a huge goal in the 2nd to put the V-Reds up 2-1.

Great to see that. What a ride it's been for Gregor MacLeod.
-Undrafted in the QMJHL -Put up solid numbers in the NSMMHL -Great first and only season in the MHL, some good numbers for Campbellton -Signed to the Islanders and put up a great rookie season -A good first half in 17-18, traded to Quebec and is one of their top forwards for the second half -Traded to Drummondville for overage season, finishes 3rd on the team in goals, assists and points -Signs AHL contract
Congrats to him. Well deserved.

Victor Findlay has tweeted that Hardie is going to the Ottawa University Gee-Gees.
Tweet: In recruiting news, sources telling me the Ottawa Gee-Gees expect to have Daniel Hardie as part of the team next year. Hardie's coming off a splendid 78 point OA season in the QMJHL with Charlottetown. He'd be a well above average addition for Ottawa if it turns out.

For Drew, this is a great opportunity. The Ducks fired their coach mid-season and the GM is holding the reins right now. By all accounts, the likely plan is that they hire their AHL coach, Dallas Eakins for the vacancy in Anaheim. Drew gets to go in and get a chance to play for the coach who is very likely the NHL coach for the team he'll be trying to make in a couple of years.

One thing that is interesting with the Ducks holding Drew's rights... Because he was drafted from the CHL they have 2 years to sign him to an entry level deal. They have until June 1, 2020 to make the decision to sign him. However since Hunter is done of junior hockey, he'll need a place to play next year.
But I suppose that in this case, if they hadn't seen enough from Hunter to fully decide on offering an entry level NHL/AHL deal, they would likely offer him an AHL/ECHL deal so they could monitor his development in his draft plus 2 season.

Former PEI Rocket players (and Charlottetown Natives) Chris Doyle and Jordan Moore are currently in Lacombe, AB competing in the 2019 Allen Cup. Wishing them luck as they fight for a national senior championship with the Haut- Madawaska Panthers (NB).

Former Rocket players Billy Bezeau and Guillaume Pelletier look to have played with the Panthers during the season... but not a full campaign... so they may not be part of the crowd going to Alberta. Doyle doesn't look to have played with them this season, but these senior teams are allowed to pick up guys to participate in the Allan Cup.
Is there anyone one here old enough (like me) to remember the Charlottetown Senior Islanders Allan Cup run in 1991? This was shortly after the Civic Center opened and this was the hockey to go to in Charlottetown at the time. This was great hockey with a good number of tough characters and skilled scorers.
