Fantastic news about Josh Currie. As I mentioned earlier, he's been on the wing lately in Bakersfield. The Oilers have struggled to find wingers to produce. They have a couple of centremen in their lineup who are pretty good. I'm curious to see if they try Josh in an offensive role.
This is great to see a hard worker like Josh climb the ladder in the pros. He did this the tough way. 154 games in the ECHL and 237 games in the AHL. He is definitely one of the all time fan favourites who have played major junior in Charlottetown. It's great to see him finally reach the NHL.

Getting to be a nice list of guys who have gone through our program and have gone on to the NHL. For sure, there was a long and dismal stretch. But now we're seeing guys who wore our uniform getting an opportunity.

Chlapik on the way up to Ottawa for his first action this season.
He's having a good season down on the farm. Ottawa has used their farm system pretty actively this season and haven't had Chlapik up at this point.
Great to see him get the opportunity.

Not a new or former player, but an island boy, Jack Campbell is leading the Canada winter games with 17 points in 6 games, which is great to see, I’d have to think he will gain lots of interest in the Q draft this summer.

I don't mean to discredit or discount.... it looks like Campbell is having a great MAAA season on Kensington, who are very strong this year. He's 10-19-29 in 27 games as a 15 y/o. Numbers like that should for sure put him on the radar for the Q draft.
You do have to be careful when looking at Canada Game's stats. In the tournament, the teams are tiered so they are playing against reasonable competition in the preliminary games. PEI was grouped in pool C with Newfoundland, Yukon, Nunavut, and NWT. PEI had a lopsided score where they beat Nunavut 12-0, but the rest of their games were pretty close. Coming out of the qualifying round, PEI got hammered by BC 15-1.
The big scores in a short tournament can sometimes distort the stats. In the 2015 Canada Games, the top three scorers in the tournament were all from PEI.... Jeremy McKenna, Carson MacKinnon, and Thomas Casey.... three great players who have had strong major junior careers so far(especially McKenna who's been a strong producer each year). But they ranked ahead of many great players in the scoring race.....Gabe Vilardi, Owen Tippett, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Shane Bowers, Nick Suzuki.... some of these guys are close to NHL ready.
Still.... great tournament for Campbell who looks to be a PEI product who is having an impressive regular season in in his league and a great Canada Games as well. Another great looking 15 y/o on Kensington is defenceman Zach Biggar who is 4-24-28 in 31 games.

Even more alumni finding success in the NHL.
Ross Johnston scores his first of the season to make it 4-2 NYI.
The Islanders would eventually win 5-4 in a shootout over the Sens.
