Very good point on Chlapik. I understood Ottawa’s AHL team is very good and they feel they have a shot at the Calder Cup. It makes sense to have all their talented young players who are waiver exempt down in the minors. Sprong is for sure on his last leg here. I dont see him going the Europe or KHL route. Washington give up Djoos for him, who to me has more value then Sprong. Washington is in a position to give him a shot in the AHL and see how it goes. As for Chlapik, I watched an interview yesterday with Ottawa’s GM and he said they made a move to get a veteran forward for the remainder of the season so their young prospects can continue to win and play In the AHL playoffs. He mentioned 5-6 names of prospects they are very high an and Chlapik was not one of them.. time will tell for him as well. [ Yes, Ottawa’s farm team is 2nd overall in the AHL, and the Hersey Bears (Sprongs new team) Are up there as well

For those of us who followed this team since its existence, it's nice to see Newfoundland native, Chris Owens, still doing his thing playing Pro hockey in Slovakia. Owens shows 1 GP with the Rocket back in 06-07. A very offensively gifted Dman who put up huge numbers in the MJAHL and went on to play 5 solid seasons with Acadia University before turning pro. Despite playing just 1 regular season game, I recall Owens having a lot of support from the fans due to his offensive ability. Here is his profile from Elite Prospects:

Getson scores in triple OT vs UdeM Aigles Blues and former Islander Desjardins to send Saint Mary’s Huskies to the CIS Nationals. Other former Islanders playing for the Huskies are King and Balmas. Nationals are being held next week in Halifax.

Too lazy to go back and figure it out, but was Welsh’s last game his record setting night?
Tough way to go out for the face of the franchise, but atleast his last (or one of his last) games will be a memorable one.

When they had the big ceremony for Welsh after his record setting game, I thought it was great to have it in a game where there was something on the line and it was a game that mattered. Quite often, when you are honouring those graduating 20 y/o players at the end of the season in their final game, the match is typically a sleeper that has no bearing and players on both teams might be coasting.
But given how the season has ended, it is great that Matthew Welsh was given a night where he was honored and regarded for his numerous contributions on and off the ice. Welsh will go down in history as one of the most important hockey players in this franchise. While it's too bad that the team was unable to recognize Ethan Crossman and Brendan Clavelle, at least they had a great ceremony to recognize Matthew Welsh.

Huge loss for the Panthers if he stays up for the year, considering they were hosting Nationals and Kam would be a top player in the league. Obviously this is great for him though, hopefully he makes the jump seamlessly.

Kielly has one more year of university eligibility left, but he probably has completed his degree. I'm sure when he was playing major junior at home in Charlottetown he would have been taking some university courses after he finished high school.
I always though Kielly would make a great pro player. Does Shane Turner still scout for Dallas? No doubt, he would have played a major part of lining Kielly up with the Stars AHL squad if he is still in the organization.
Congratulations and best of luck!

I see PO is on the Pens expanded playoff roster. Washington has not released there’s yet. Hopefully Sprong will be part of their squad.
Brisebois is part of the Vancouver roster and Max Lagace is on the Boston roster. Of course Rosco will be on the Islanders roster and Graves on the Colorado roster.
