Ryan Graves was moved from the Rangers to the Avalanche in a deadline deal today. Hopefully he gets an NHL look before the end of the season. you would think with the Rangers going into complete teardown mode if he were close to competing for NHL ice.... they would have given him a shot now with their organization after moving McDonagh

Ryan Graves was moved from the Rangers to the Avalanche in a deadline deal today. Hopefully he gets an NHL look before the end of the season. As a NY Ranger fan, I'm disappointed he didn't get more of an opportunity with them. I saw him play in a couple of Junior A games here; he's from the town I'm living in; I know people that know him. I'm guessing either his development didn't meet the organization's expectations, and/or other players had passed on the depth chart; they've added a number of young defence prospects in the last week. I hope he gets more of a chance with Colorado than he was going to get with the NY Rangers.

I've kind of been keeping an eye on Graves and the Rangers the last little while. They've called up different options on D from their AHL team and by-passed Graves different times. John Gilmour has been up for 9, Ryan Sproul has been up for 4, Neal Pionk has been up for 9, Anthony DeAngelo has been up for 25. It seems like Graves has been passed on the depth chart. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to play in the NHL with the Avs.

Former Islanders defenseman Ryan MacKinnon has been doing really good for the Worcester Railers of the ECHL ever since graduating from UPEI and playing for the UPEI Panthers. After being one of the best defensemen in the AUS for the 2017-18 season, but being eliminated in the first round, he went on to the Railers and currently has 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points in 6 games and a +1 plus/minus rating. He has potential to become a depth defenseman in the AHL in the future. Great job, Ryan.

Ryan MacKinnon was called up by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL, which is where his former teammate Ross Johnston was playing. If Johnston is somehow sent down, he and MacKinnon would be beautiful.

Johnston won't be sent down, I don't think. Doug Weight seems to like what Ross brings to the lineup. He's non in the lineup nightly, but when they need him, he's dressed and ready to fill his role.
Surely, Ross will be in the lineup for when they play Washington to have a little "talk" to Tom Wilson.

Great news for MacKinnon. Just a few short weeks ago, he was playing AUS which has proved to be a decent road to the minor pros, etc.
All Islander fans know what Ryan is capable of, and I’m sure he’ll likely find a home in the AHL for quite a while.

Ryan MacKinnon has signed a contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL to play with them for the rest of this season and the 2018-19 season, and he was just recalled from Worcester. Damn.

Filip Chlapik scores his first NHL goal tonight vs. the Oilers. Woohoo! 3rd former Islander to score first NHL goal this season took about 13 years for 3 former Rocket to do so

Knit pickers will always complain....but the kid put up some impressive numbers in his Rookie season in the AHL.
32 goals 33 assists
65 points in 65 games played.
Sprong with WBS Penguins led his team in scoring by 15pts.
Broke the teams record for most goals by a rookie in a season.
Finished 5th overall in league scoring....and 2nd overall for goals scored. League leader had 33 goals....and As mentioned, Sprong had 32.
Not a bad rookie season at all for the kid.
