Samuel Meisenheimer will join the Summerside Capitals for this coming season.
He should be a fantastic pickup for them.

Daniel Sprong is having a real tough time cracking NHL fulltime duty.... he had just 3 and a half minutes of icetime last night and thru 7 games has only registered 3 shots on goal

I was watching the end of the Oilers/Pens game. It was a really back and forth affair with lots of offense on both sides.
I realized I hadn't seen Sprong on the ice and wondered if he was a scratch. When I checked I saw that he had a really insignificant amount of ice time. In his last four games he was below 10 minutes of ice time.
The NHL is a tough league to play in. Young players have to earn every second of ice time they are going to get. The Pens won't want to use Sprong in a limited 4th line role so maybe a trip to the AHL could be in the cards?
When talking Sprong, I always wonder what Chlapik is up to, considering how much the pair played together during their time here. Given how terrible Ottawa was supposed to be, I was really surprised when Chlapik was sent to the AHL before the end of their training camp. Chlapik looks to be having a strong start to his AHL season though. Chlapik is 1-5-6 in 5 games and is third in team scoring (behind two other good prospects in Batherson and Balcers). Hopefuelly we see him back up to the NHL soon.

Sprong was benched for the second half of the game after a really bad shift where he lost his man and he wound up scoring a goal (Chiasson).... he has been used completely in a 4th line role with minimal secondary PP time thus far.....

That's gotta be a wake up call for a young kid who's breaking into the NHL.
Alex Chaisson is a guy who didn't even have a contract all summer. He was invited to Edmonton's camp on a tryout and busted his butt to earn a job. He hadn't even played up until the weekend when the Oilers suffered a couple of injuries. Then he goes out and scores 2 goals last night.
You can't take a shift off, let alone a night off, if you want to have a career in the NHL.

www.nhl.com/oilers/video/chiasson-buries-second-chance/t-277437406/c-62129603There is the play, I was watching the game and the first thing I said was, Sprong will be benched after that, and he was. In my opinion Sprong is not an NHL player. His previous shit before that one, his line mates cycled the puck down low and he stud in one spot in the slot(not open at all) and didn’t move his feet once.

Good to see Gregor MacLeod ripping it up with the Volts. 38pts in 25 games.

Honestly happy that Sprong got dealt. He did not look good at all in Pittsburgh. Looking forward to his future in Anaheim.
