I can't see the Cats trading Grametbauer without a good young goalie coming back their way.
If they plan on contending next year, I can't see them going with a tandem of Waite and Mcdonald (or another of their prospects)

With Grametbauer and Tessier we would have two top 20 year olds next year in a year that the Q hosts the Memorial Cup. If the Cats decide not to go for it next year, I'm sure they could get a boatload for those two because of the Memorial Cup tournament being in the Q. Right now I have zero confidence in Waite with his shoulder issues and MacDonald does not seem to have the confidence of the coach. If you trade Grametbauer and then have to overpay next year for another goalie, what's the point? I say trade Welsh now if he is worth a 1st as Billy thinks he is.

Have we heard whether Moncton is still bidding to host the memorial cup? If they are I wouldn't be surprised if they won the bid. The New rink and having a team that should be good are definitely factors in Moncton's favour. Not to mention you can pretty much guarantee that Irving will do whatever he can to win. I think if that's the plan then trading Welsh has to be the plan so that you can actually get some more assets to add to the team. Obviously, Pelletier, Bellamy, MacDonald would all be huge as futures in trades next year but you don't want to destroy your team's future like that.
