A centering pass from down by the post, out front to an open man, is 99% of the time tapped in for the goal. That is not a weak goal. It may be the hardest goal to stop as a goalie, as you are taught to play the shooter. Not only that, he had another D man in front to ideally stop the pass from getting through, but didn't. edit: It actually looked like Durandeau tried to take it from backhand to forehand for a quick shot, which is when Waite dropped against the post - but the he missed contact on the forehand shot, so the puck essentially shot across the crease to Bishop. But I see you are just trying to boost other goalies, or downplay Hal/Mon ones. So carry on. Good goalies find a way not to kick the rebound into the slot. What are you smoking? Are you talking about the 6th Halifax goal? Waite doesn't even touch the puck. Durandeau fans on the shot and it goes right in the slot. If you want to blame anyone, blame Lecoultre for getting burned and Arsenault for not even coming close to covering Bishop.

The 2-1 goal (Durandeau) was due to poor rebound control- Bishop shot and rebound right there in the center slot for Durandeau to bang in.

IMO last night was a signal that Grametbauer will be traded. What game so far was more important than last night? And one just admits above that everybody knew Grametbauer was the better goaltender at the moment. If a Coach wants to remain on top of its main rival, he starts his best goaltender when facing off against that rival..... I don't think they're going to trade him. I think it's more that they want to see what they have in Waite since he's been hurt and to give Grametbauer a few games off since he has the most minutes in the Q so far. They probably don't want to burn him out. I really think they're planning to build for next year and keeping Grametbauer as a 20 makes sense. So using that logic, Pickard from the Titan got 25 minutes less played than Grametbauer and he should be kept as an OA next season? I might understand for the Titan as they do not have any young up and coming rookie good enough, but Moncton got Waite. But, coming back to my question, why put Waite in the game that decides who takes first place in the Division unless they are ready to trade Grametbauer and want to see what Waite got in the belly? IMO they already decided that they will not contend and want to see how good Waite really is. FOr the right price they would be foolish not to trade Grametbauer.

Or perhaps they are just alternating starts since Waite has barely had any game action and haven't made a decision on anything? That's a hell of a lot of analysis from a decision on whos starting in a game. First place in the division is far from "decided". Perhaps they are resting Grametbauer for the best team in the CHL coming into town on Thursday!

Thought the Cats played pretty well for the most part. Nice to see some offence again after it sputtered this weekend. That sixth Halifax goal though was absolutely abysmal. Durandeau drove around the defenseman, got a shot off in tight and Bishop quickly knocked in the rebound as he was crashing the other side. Unless I missed something about that goal? Should clarify that I meant it was abysmal to allow that to happen six seconds after they got back to within one. Not necessarily blaming the goaltending. Just very poor all around to allow that goal to happen.

Moncton has a team that should be good next year and opening a new rink. I'm not sure how Moncton keeping Grametbauer as a 20 is even remotely similar to the Titan keeping Pickard as a 20. Moncton should improve while the Titan will be getting worse. I doubt anyone right now is certain whether Waite is even good enough to be in the league next year so Moncton doesn't have any goalies in the system that can be counted on other than Grametbauer. I also doubt Moncton cares about one game early in the year that would have kept them in first place. They were bound to fall out of first place anyway. Waite has played 3 games all year, they likely wanted to give him a few games instead of just sitting him for more time. The trade period is like a month away, if anything Moncton would want to play Grametbauer a ton in the next few weeks to help showcase him for a trade if that's they decided.

We hold the eight slot in the league at present, a middle of the road team anywhere between 7-10th position as the season progresses IMHO. Certainly not a top five team in the league by no means and what is currently happening with our team is probably expected. So using your logic, the Islanders should expect Murdaca in net for the Titan the next time they meet up. This, IMO, will give the Titan the best chance to remain on top of its main rival. Pickard, Timchenko, Somers, and Dumont-Bouchard all tried and failed last year and so far this year, Pickard tried and failed, Tmej tried and failed, so it has to be Murdaca. Actually, I think Murdaca is the new #1 in Titanland.

We are talking about the Bishop goal, and how Durandeau took it to the net and in an attempt to get a shot, sent the puck cross crease to Bishop for an empty net goal. You replied to ME that good goalies don't kick rebounds into the slot. Pens quoted YOU and said it wasn't a rebound goal, and then you said he must have been addressing the wrong person...

I wasn't talking about a specific goal. Just making a point that good goalies find a way to not leave the rebound in the crease on bad angle goals. If it was that easy they would be shooting from the goal line all night on top goalies.

If a Coach wants to remain on top of its main rival, he starts his best goaltender when facing off against that rival..... Well Waite started against Charlottetown (his first start in many weeks since being out injured), and gave up 2 fairly quick goals, but was solid the rest of the way shutting the door through OT ... but losing in a shootout in which only one player scored on him in 5 shooters. Then Grametbauer started vs CB and gave up 4 (plus an empty netter) ... and lost. So who should get the next start? The guy that played well two games before that just returned from injury that you are hoping to groom to be your #1 ... or the guy that just lost the last game that has started most of the games all year (20 of 25) ? If Moncton was trying to contend this year then maybe you want to gain every point you can in November, but they aren't. Our target year is likely next year or the year after. This year is more about growth, and starting Waite in front of a big crowd vs a big rival is good for growth and good for our target years. Are you angry that Halifax won facing our backup ?
