From Stephane Leroux

That team is terrifying for the next 2-3 years....
Guay, Veleno, Desruisseaux, Simoneau, Mercer, that's a group of forwards that are going to put up a shit ton of points, with Olivier Rodrigue stopping pucks and Dom Ducharme coaching.....

Excellent move by both.
SJ needs to rebuild and those picks will help do that even if the pay day is a few years down the road.
Veleno needed a fresh start this year if he wants to be a top 10 NHL pick and playing for a great coach with some good young players should help be that fresh start for him.

Good trade for both teams. I expect Veleno to start averaging close to 2 points a game (or more) once he joins Drummondville. Veleno simply wasn't the right age for Saint John's cycle. That's not to say that he didn't contribute in the 2 contending years that he played for SJ but he still hadn't peaked and wasn't THE guy yet, and his draft year being year one of the Sea Dogs' rebuild wasn't a great scenario for him. I expect him to tear it up in Drummondville and we'll see his draft status rise.

The Gatineau pick should be a good one and the Armada should be weak next year.

Very good trade by both sides, Saint John gets a bunch of pieces to rebuild and Drummondville is going to be one crazy team for the next 2-3 seasons, Mercer, Desruisseaux, simoneau, Guay, Koltygin, Eckl, Demarais, Veleno, is a really strong young forward group who will only get better as they get older and they're all 18 or younger..
Then Drummondville has Pelletier, Bernard, and Beaudin on defense with Rodrigue in nets, that's a strong lineup moving forward for sure and all these guys I named in their forward and D group have been drafted in the 1st or 2nd round aside from Beaudin but we all know how good he is now...
Saint John now has 5 good pieces to build another strong team, I think they made a good choice.
Have to wonder if Pare is next on the move? Would be a nice addition for a team like Halifax, Quebec, Rimouski who all will contend again next year.

The Gatineau pick should be a good one and the Armada should be weak next year. Yup and Saint John has their own pick in 2018 too which will now clearly be a good one. SJ hosted the draft a year too early it looks like. I imagine Georgie and McCain are now eyeing the 2022 Memorial Cup.

I wonder if Georgie was able to pull this deal off or did Danny Flynn come back and workout the trade for him.

No one on their team is above 1.00... I’d say he might be able to go to 1.2-1.3 or in that range, that’s 80-90 points over a full 68 game season which is about the range I think a lot of people were hoping for coming into this season.

Love the trade and it looks the futures deal probably involving Drummondvilles pick going back to them. But if veleno does go say top 10 what team gets the draft money from the NHL?
