Halifax will win this bid, the Wildcats are just too far from being a serious contender next year. The coaching is sub-par and team lacks depth and talent for a run, they're getting there just not next year. I agree with npsh that head to head on an entertainment level we can't compare to Halifax but compared to the rest of the Maritimes we're practically Las Vegas.

No way its 50-50 ... I'd say 80-20 in favour of Halifax. Halifax has waited longer than we have ... they had the most successful Memorial Cup in recent times ... far more successful than Moncton's hosting. They have hosted many world class events and been very successful every time ... their team should be stronger on paper by what we'll know when the event is awarded (pre-draft). While we have a brand new building they can pack in more fans than we can still. They have a larger STH base ... and we don't know how large our's will be before we actually move downtown. And comparing Cities ... Halifax is a great place to be during an event like this ... while Moncton is a hole, but is improving ... but won't have improved significantly by tournament time. The only reason why Moncton gets a 20% chance is because we have a brand new rink ... and a billionaire owner who could take a big loss if he wanted it real bad. I think we are only bidding at this time so we can say we did and got rejected ... so we'd have a better chance next time. That's typically how it works. I suspect you are right on Halifax as has to more to offer in all aspects, has a more vibrant downtown, fine eating establishments, plenty of good hotels, best selection of pubs, toss in the ambiance of the waterfront and there you go. What does Moncton have outside of one downtown street and a view of a muddy river. Yup ... 10 years from now we'll have more to offer ... but in 2019 our downtown growth will still be in its very early stages.

Next Q year to host will be 2022 - assume new Gatineau rink will be in play by then. League won't come back to Maritimes that fast so 2025 shapes up as a Saint John vs Moncton bid year with maybe the Newfoundland team also in discussion. I assume Remparts will be gone and replaced by NHL team by then. So in all likelihood Moncton may have to wait until 2031 to get another legit kick at it.
I expect Saint John pushes hard in 6 years for that 2025 MC

That was tried and didn’t work out aka St. John’s Fog Devils, very highly unlikely that venture will happen again.

Five weeks from now, a QMJHL independent selection committee will announce whether the Moncton Wildcats or Halifax Mooseheads will host the 2019 Memorial Cup. Today that committee will tour the new Moncton downtown events centre.
