Tonight is the USHL Draft. By the end of the night, we will know which QMJHL draft eligible players have shown an interest in going NCAA. Have to assume Lawrence will be going high. What's Thomas Bordeleau's connection to the US? Is one of his parents American?

Ultimately it’s the kids decisions on what country they represent and it will never happen, based on Hockey Canada’s agenda to push towards the CHL but I do wish there was a program like the USNDTP for Canadian kids looking to go the NCAA route. You might see more of the kids that can go either way stay in Canada, if they could play in a high end program that would keep their NCAA eligibility.

About an hour ago, I was told he is headed to the BCHL next season. That’s why he wasn’t drafted sooner.

so the highest ranked goalie is 28th, wonder if Bathurst makes a trade to get a 2nd rounder in order to draft him, need a new guy moving forward. anyone know much about the kid? Charles-Antoine Lavallee Also is this a down year for the draft? I don't look too much into the guys coming from Midget and such, but if I had to guess it seems weaker then last years draft. I wouldn't say it's a down year for the draft in general. It certainly is for Nova Scotia, and arguably for Newfoundland as well. New Brunswick and obviously Quebec both have a lot to offer tho. There's some good talent from PEI too, actually. CSR did a particularly poor job with the Atlantic provinces this year. Anyone who watched the NB, NS, PEI and NL games in Boisbriand would look at this list with a heavy amount of head scratching. Was the NL CSR rep even at the tournament? I suspect the HP list may reflect reality a bit better than this one. The team lists have to be very different.

Anyone have a scouting report on Jeremie Biakabutuka? Seems like a big body with decent point totals. Wonder if he is related to Touchdown Tim Biakabutuka who played for Michigan and then the NFL?

These rankings are always skeptical IMO... a lot you can like but a lot that leave you scratching your head. Ryan Francis I thought would be a 1st rounder last year and was ranked in the 4th. Drover in the 2nd round leaves me scratching my head... Roode in the 2nd, I can see based off his potential but he is very raw. I like the list as a basis for who’s all in the draft and maybe some idea of where people could go but it also leaves me scratching my head a lot. Two words that scare me in drafting a player in any league. "Raw" and "A Project". In the old clutch and grab days, you had to draft big guys that were "projects" but now with the game being played at a quicker pace and size being much less important, I think these "project" players are more likely to slide for guys that are already skilled and might only need one more season of development(in the Q or MAAA) before making a true impact.

His dad was playing for the Houston Aeros when he was born. They usually play Jr.A if that's the case, a couple of Ontario Jr.A leagues and BCJHL have a lot of NCAA kids.

While there is some Jr. A leagues of high caliber in Canada, they’re no match for the USHL which is basically of a Major Junior league. If they could play in a high end league while being monitored by HC I think the development of the players could be better for them as the main objective would be development and not winning.
