Alright, having spent most of the last couple of weeks ranting about our management, what is done is done, and thought I would start a fresh thread looking at where we stand for the second half.
I think an argument can be made that in adding Phelan, Sylvestre, Miromanov, Khovanov, and Capanelli (who had been out with a long term injury) in the last month or so, we may actually be among the teams in the league that improved the most from the pre-Xmas period. Miromanov, Welsh, and Phelan give us one of the better groups of OAs in the league.
We are solid in net with Grametbauer. On D, Welsh, Miromanov, Sylvestre, Aspirot and Le Coultre are a strong top 5, and Arsenault and Tucker should be fine as #6 guys. Up front, a top six of McKenna, Cyr, Phelan, MacDonald, Pelletier and Khovanov is backed up by some good depth pieces in Capanelli, Seitz, Pataki ... in my opinion, this is a team that should move up in the standings from our current spot in 13th - that said, our division will be tough in the second half, so who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff are being evaluated closely based on how the team performs down the stretch and in the playoffs - a poor performance could very well convince RKI to make a change for next season over the summer.

I liked what I've seen from Phelan so far. He's a hard worker out there. Definitely ready to play all 60mins. He will be fun to watch for the rest of the year.

Long term, don't like what the Cats did but they are really flying under the radar and would not at all be surprised to see this team in round two of the playoffs. A dark horse to make round three even.

I think once new guys settle is when you'll see the improvement Could be. It's worth remembering, though, that almost every team has a similar number of new guys settling.

Pretty hard to envision them getting to round three
every team in front of you added to some degree as well except for Cape Breton
you might get as high as 10th
could draw a good first round matchup and maybe upset... no way you pull off two upsets

I think anything less than an awfully good battle in round 1 probably costs Rumble his job.

I hear Danny Flynn is available. Would be a big upgrade on what's happened since he left. I'm sure Danny would only come back if he is allowed to operate with no interference from RKI.
