I prefer this match-up over Bathurst or Halifax.
I'll play the role of Positive Pete. Wildcats in 6.

Rimouski will take out the Cats in four straight. Hopefully this will be the end of the Coaching staff and GM.

When you look at this match up there are a few interesting things of note. We actually had a slightly better offense than Rimouski did all year .. 233 GF vs 231 GF. The big difference is in GA ... we gave up 282 goals while Rim only gave up 174 ... Rimouski is the best defensive team in the Q. Our PP is a notch better than Rim on the year (19.5% vs 18.8%) ... but Rim has the best PK and our's is 11th. But there PP will face a medicore PK while our PP will face a sold PK.
So if we can get very good playoff goaltending then we could make it more interesting than it looks on paper.
I have no illusions on who will win this. I'd like to see us get at least one win but ... I think if we go out in 4 games that a shake up at the top will happen. So I hope we aren't too good.

The GM you can have issues with going back years. But considering they stripped the team down to a skeleton last year and chased a futility record. I don't think Darren Rumble is the problem. The games I have seen they seem to have team ready to compete each night but it's not been the best mix to get much better this fast. Nonetheless they won't blow the GM/coach out now with a bid in to host the cup.

They seem committed to the status quo through next season from the outside looking in.

I have been a Darren Rumble fan since he has been here ... but this year he had a lot of talent but the team was brutal for most of the year. Nobody seemed to learn anything ... same mistakes all year. For a guy that was an NHL Dman ... his dmen were terrible ... even the highly coveted (and paid for) Sylvestre was terrible ... and what was with all the suspensions ? As far as I am concerned ... if we are hosting the Mem Cup next year ... we need to clean house before the draft. If We are not hosting (more than likely) ... then fire Shannon and if the new guy wants to keep Rumble then I'm okay with that. And WRT your last statement ... we fired our Coach and GM last time at the conclusion of the season before hosting, and that worked out pretty well.

I just don't understand how you can play all year and the coaches could not figure out that their empty net system did not work - Moncton gave up 15-16 empty net goals and I don't think they scored once with goalie pulled. Fans should pray that they aren't down by one late in the game.

I have been a Darren Ruble fan since he has been here ... but this year he had a lot of talent but the team was brutal for most of the year. Nobody seemed to learn anything ... same mistakes all year. For a guy that was an NHL Dman ... his dmen were terrible ... even the highly coveted (and paid for) Sylvestre was terrible ... and what was with all the suspensions ? I also have concerns that they could not find any playing time for Bellamy when we watched Le Coultre & Arsenault make the same mistakes all season long. Rumble seems like an awesome guy and surely is a players coach, and I love that his players have offensive creativity allowed but the management of the defenseman really concern me. I never questioned the teams work ethic, physicality or conditioning under Rumble but there doesn't seem to be much defensive play being taught. The bottomline is regardless of the poor management of assets this team should not be 14th place. They were the 7th ranked team in goals for, if the defensive side of the game had even been average they would have been closer to 8th-10th place.

Who is to blame for not developing/playing Bellamy? No reason this happened.

This is the second time in three years that the team made additions that should have made them better in the second half of the season and instead they got worse.
It's easy to forget what a train wreck the second half of 2016 was because of the great playoff run that followed. Shannon brought in a goalie that couldn't stop a beach ball for two second round picks and the Cats threw away a sizable lead that they had over SJ for first place in the division.
This year they added Miromanov, Khovanov, Sylvestre and Phelan and while not everyone agreed with all the moves made the general consensus was that it was a pretty decent team and should win more games than they lost. That didn't happen. Looking at rosters on paper it's laughable some of the teams they finished behind and even Chicoutimi had more wins than the Cats.
It's highly doubtful that a playoff run is going to save the season this time.
Lots of blame to go around and I think at this point wholesale changes are needed to get this franchise back on track. There's just no way they can go into next season with the status quo with all the losing that's been going on for the last two and a half seasons.
