Shannon in an assistant GM Role would be far more effective. He was successful in getting Khovanov here with a ton of persistant work..he seems to have some contacts in the hockey world & by all accounts is well liked by the players. Through all the poor decisions he made we never heard any leaks or rumors about conflict with the players. Having a guy above him to filter through his ideas and not be in charge of making trades would get the most use of his skillset. His poor judgment on skill levels has me wanting him away from any sort of scouting role in our organization.

I don't think there's any worry of that..I'm speaking in terms of if someone wanted to hire him on..a role geared towards recruitment and player dealings as an assistant GM seems more in his wheelhouse. Perhaps a player agent/advisor.

Who do you think will be the new GM ? Martin Lahaie wrote on Twitter that he wouldn't be surprise to see Wildcats hiring new GM until the end of the week.

I keep hearing Greg Royce. Your Right Greg Royce it is. An excellent hire if true. He seems over-qualified to be a General Manager in the CHL. 20 years experience working for NHL teams.

I don't think so ... managing in the NHL is very different than in the CHL. The whole trying to find your window to contend while you have a group of key players ... plus beating the bushes for hidden gems. That's not really part of being an NHL GM.

Important comments to consider here.
We thought we had a star GM coming in when the new Islanders hired Grant Sonier. He came with lots of experience on his pro resume.
I felt Sonier struggled with transitioning to major junior hockey. In my opinion, his biggest downfall was identifying guys he wanted and then paying whatever price necessary to acquire them.
He also made a couple of missteps in trading Euro players due to not completely understanding the rules. Those rules are vague and always seem to change, but as GM you have to know what you are doing.

Plus NHL scouts don't make personnel decisions or trades, they just evaluate talent for the draft. That being said, player evaluations are a key part of being a good junior GM. In Moncton, being a good politician is also a pre requisite, you have to convince the owner that he should listen to you and not the coach...

Your Right Greg Royce it is. Has this been confirmed anywhere? No. It’s just a rumour at this point. I’ve heard it is Greg Royce and I’ve heard it’s not Greg Royce. The GM search has been a “shitshow” from what I was told.

Anything further? RKI was reportedly interviewing candidates draft weekend but nothing announced yet I heard a couple of the candidates they want are not interested and one that wanted it could not get out of his contract elsewhere.
