Heard a lot of great things about him. Played Junior A as a 16 and 17 year old. Could easily get a D1 scholarship but he’s willing to give it a shot in Moncton.

It would be good to find a diamond in the rough. I hope he works out. It would really help out our D.

Sat with him and his mother during this mornings scrimmage. They were waiting for paperwork to clear with OHL( Barrie team that drafted him) and then through the Q. Late round pick in Barrie but was in a numbers game. They were hoping the paperwork would clear so he could get into tonight’s scrimmage. I was happy to hear he was a D man as that is where we need the most ( diamond in the rough). Hope he works out with us!

Barrie agreed to his release about two weeks ago. It was just a matter of clearing OHL waivers from there. He expected to play in today’s scrimmages.

Hopefully works out, but I am going to temper my expectations. At 18, if he could “easily have a D1 scholarship” he likely would have had a commitment by now or would have been playing in a stronger league. For every FA we bring in that ends up being an impact player, there are ten who get hyped up who don’t move the needle - I am fine with that, it is the nature of the game ... but I am going to hold off on getting too excited over any one guy until he shows in the regular season what he can do against major junior caliber competition.

From last year I’ve really liked rumsey and foreman, I’d say gaudrault has the best shot at the back up spot. This years draft desnoyers kingsbury Fournier and langlois have been impressive. Lavalee looks like he’ll be a good one, better off playing midget at 16 and playing a lot then back up at 17 to begin. FA wise Nolan Barrett looks solid, will be better to tell when the vets step in.

Noticed that Barrett and Walker are not listed for the intersquad game tonight. That’s probably not a good sign.

Hopefully they can convince Walker and Hayes to report next year. Their D prospects are very few now.
