In the category of odd early season stats:
Gatineau 5-0 on the road, 0-2 at home.
Should be a good one with both teams coming off solid weekends in the Maritimes. Win tonight and the Cats have a very good shot at a winning road trip.

Leclerc has been absolutely phenomenal to start the season. Big reason they won the game tonight.

I didn't watch this game ... decided to catch up on my sleep after two late nights with the Redsox.

Leclerc has been absolutely phenomenal to start the season. Big reason they won the game tonight. Gatineau’s 2nd goal is one Leclerc should’ve had. He responded well and didn’t allow another goal the rest of the game. He’s sitting 3rd amongst goalies with a 1.98 GAA.

I read Rumble's comments in the T-T in which he wants this team to have home ice in the first round of the playoffs, and said to do that they'll have to finish top 8. As I understand it that is incorrect, as we have now moved back to a conference system, and our conference includes BC, Rim, Que and Chic. So instead of finishing Top 8, you have to finish top 4 in the conference.
Today we are 4th in the conference, with BC, Rim and Hal ahead of us. I don't expect that we'll finish ahead of any of those three teams so it will be tough to hold onto 4th. I expect CB and Char to get better than they have started out ... and Chic is tied with us (in points) and Quebec is just one point back. Finishing 4th in the conference will be a tough battle all year and is too close to pick at this point. Injuries will play a role in this for all teams.

Leclerc has been absolutely phenomenal to start the season. Big reason they won the game tonight. This is the first time in many years where we have had an excellent goaltending tandem. Throwing in the backup is not a guarenteed loss anymore. I expect Leclerc gets the Friday start vs RN, and Lavalee will get the start vs VD Interesting to note that the RN game is at 8:30 Atl, but the Saturday game vs VD is at 7:00 PM Atl.

The thing that skews the Cats record right now is they have played 4(3-1-0) of their 8 games against Bathurst and SJ, Bathurst is rebuilding and SJ is very very young. the Cats may improve by leaps and bounds and be a top 5 team, but right now, based on their play, they look to me like a 9th to 13th overall team overall. In this conference that likely puts them around 7th or 8th. The real wild card in the division is PEI, they overachieved last year and look like they took a big step back this year, most think they will rebound. If they are ahead of the WC, then top 4 is virtually impossible.

I want to try to understand the new playoff format. So using the Q's conference standings of this morning, we'd be in 4th and would face Chicoutimi in Round 1. VD and Shaw would miss the playoffs, and SJ and CB would slide over into the Western Conference and be seeded 7th and 8th. Is it the bottom two in the overall standings that miss the playoffs, or is it the bottom of each conference? I can't find the article that describes it. We use to have a similar conference setup but it was always the bottom of each conference that missed the playoffs, and the 9th place team in the east would slide over into the west ... by my poor memory.

That’s the thing I like him about him and Lavalée both, they don’t get rattled by giving up a goal.
