Here's a trade scenario to debate. To Moncton: Noah Dobson To Bathurst: Anderson MacDonald Nicolas Kingsbury-Fournier Two 2nd round picks If Dobson is sent back for the 2019/2020 season, Moncton gets one of those 2nd round picks back, but a future 1st round pick is sent to Bathurst. I don’t think there’s really a debate, that’s a piss poor offer. In reality if Moncton wanted to get Dobson from Bathurst (not likely since he’s been traded) they’d have to probably start the offer with Bathurst’s 1st, Desnoyers, another 1st and a 2nd round pick/prospect. Then if Dobson is back as a 19 year old, another 1st and probably a 3rd is sent Bathurst’s way to complete the trade. So if he played half a season: Dobson for 2019 Bathurst 1st, Moncton 1st, Desnoyers and a 2nd or prospect. If he’s back at 19: Dobson for 2019 Bathurst 1st, 2 Moncton 1st’s, Desnoyers, a 2nd or prospect and a 3rd. Keep in mind that right now, Bathurst's first (2019) is worth roughly two 1sts and a 2nd. If any deal for Dobson starts with that first then there isn't much more that needs to be added.

i'll just toss this out because nobody has even mentioned the possibility of it
Chicoutimi trades for Dobson and keeps him
Dobson returns next year and they keep him then as well
dunno if anyone has actually looked but Chicoutimi is doing pretty well this year

Also the quoted price for Dobson is 3 1sts and a 2 so more would need adding. But chicoutimi will want players for next year.

I think MacDonald's value is really low. Dobson would cost A LOT more than that, probably twice that. His value will get lower. He’s injured again.

I think it is if Bathurst stays on the outside of the playoffs. I can't see them getting better after Dobson is dealt and a few other guys move on. The chance that it could be the 1st overall pick just raises its value ... even 5th overall has a higher value because of that limited chance. I'm not suggesting that the Bat 2019 1st is an even trade for Dobson ... just that it covers a big chunk of the cost all on its own. That pick has far more value to Bathurst though than it would to Chicoutimi. I'm hoping we aren't in on the bidding to get Dobson ... I want to target next year.

From what I read from Chicoutimi posters, Dobson will not actually become Sag property this year. It will be structured as a 3-way deal with Team X receiving Dobson, Bat receiving 3 1st and a 2nd and Chi receiving the loot offered by Team X. This way, if Dobson returns next year he can be traded to Chicoutimi.

i'll just toss this out because nobody has even mentioned the possibility of it Chicoutimi trades for Dobson and keeps him Dobson returns next year and they keep him then as well dunno if anyone has actually looked but Chicoutimi is doing pretty well this year I have said this. Me and you are on the same page here. Chicoutimi is built for next year. People are looking at the 2 16yos as the main players, but they are a 2000 born heavy team. Now looking at it and thinking that next year is their “go for it” year who’s one player they would love to have lead their defence? Dobson! So they give a shit load to get him now to flip him in hopes to get more? Doesn’t really make sense. Here’s why. -They are doing really well now and he does not at all hurt Chicoutimi. He improves them. - He can help Chicoutimi in a playoff run that gives an young team much needed experience for the future. - like I said earlier 2019/20 is a year they can be a contender. If they flip him now they can’t get him back if he’s back in the league. - If they flip him to any team and he comes back next year I would put good money on Rimouski doing whatever they can to get him there with them for their playoff run. (If they aren’t the team that gets him now that is, but I don’t think they would trade him there) - so to run on the last one it’s keeps him away from Rimouski who’s more than likely your main competition this year and next. Further to that point theres not that many answers to Lafreniere, not saying Dobson can fully shut him down but he’s a teams best bet. Here’s the only reason I can think of why you trade him. - You can predict the future and know he won’t be back in the league. IMO I don’t think he gets Chicoutimi enough of a return for him that if he’s back next year it doesn’t come back to hunt them. Like in the playoffs next year maybe. Also IMO to those who say he’s as good as gone, there’s no guarantee. I look at Dobson and I compare him to Chabot. I think they are very similar players, Chabot is a little more Finesse where Dobson is a little more Physical. But the point is Chabot was back for his 19yo season, so Dobson could be too.

Chi: 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd For Team X: loot Then Team X: Chi 1st, Chi 1st, Chi 1st, Chi 2nd For Bath: Dobson So like you said Chicoutimi can maybe get him for 2019/20. I didn’t read this before I posted my last post. This does make it interesting but I’m still on the side they keep him.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge supporter of McKenna, but I’m just not sure he’ll be playing pro next year. Being undrafted, and snubbed from the Qmjhl Russia series just doesn’t seem like an absolute lock to be gone next year. Assuming we stay relatively hot heading into Christmas I don’t think there’s any reason to blow it up by trading one of your top 3 forwards. If you assume that McKenna puts up 100 points this year, not a big reach for an NHL team to draft or sign him and let him play AHL and/or ECHL, he has nothing left to prove in the Q after last yaer and this year. How does McKenna compare to Max Fortier or Barre-Boulet? They both put up big numbers in their 18 and 19 year old seasons. I don't think he moves on unless he can play a top 6 role in the AHL.

It depends which team would draft/sign him. Teams are much more willing to gamble on smaller skill guys versus even 4-5 years ago.

They also don't have any need to add forwards, almost zero chance either Pelletier or Spence are moved and if there's a forward coming back its not going to be one with 3 goals for a package of those 2 players. Spence is already a top pairing dman in the league at 17. That depends if you are going "all in" or just looking to go 2 rounds. If you want to compete with Halifax, I think they need a couple forwards, one of them being a Danault type 2 way center, plus another winger(3rd line) who can play. A guy like Matthew Grouchy ? Package deal Dunn+Grouchy+Huntley ?

The Cats are doing much better than most thought so far anyway, but we have seen this before with early season success. If they do decide to add, I would rather a couple small pieces, they better not trade that Bathurst 1st round pick it will be a key player added to an already pretty good younger group. Don't want Dobson or anyone if it involves that 1st round pick.

I hope this includes holding onto the Bathurst 1st Rounder that should be a Top 5 Pick.

I hope this includes holding onto the Bathurst 1st Rounder that should be a Top 5 Pick. There's only a few players in this league who are worth that 1st round pick.
