So if Dunn, Boivin & Bilodeau are targeted. I wonder how much of a difference each one would be...cost wise. Dunn = Pataki + Cats 1st & 2nd & 3rd Bilodeau = Pataki + Cats 1st & 2nd Boivin = Is that enough/too much or about right? With Dejong and Tucker as 7/8 D, I think we would have enough depth to run with the big boys. Dunn might be the priciest...he's with the Remparts and our history with them doesn't make me think we'd be dealt with fairly. Can't see the prices being that steep. How about a Bilodeau for a 2nd and 3rd , pick a pick coming back for Capanelli at the draft?

I just checked...you're right. He'd still be an upgrade..but I'd prefer a D. I noticed F. Boivin is a 20 and is a D would he be an option? I noticed he used to play in Bathurst. I don't think Dion would be a big upgrade on Pataki. Pataki is one of the best PK guys in the league and puts up similar numbers. On D my wishlist would be Bilodeau GagneDunn DaSilva Cormier i doubt Gagne would want to report to Moncton. He declined to go to Baie-Comeau at the draft (he was a compensation in Antoine Samuel trade's).

I would be happy as a Remparts fan to see Dunn vs Pataki + 2nd + 3rd. Maximum i think he would cost. Same as Bilodeau.

I figured with the Q hosting the Memorial Cup that the prices could escalate. Pataki + 2nd + 3rd for Bilodeau or Dunn I could live with.

Thibeau would be looking into all of these scenarios considering the potential this team has. We wouldn't be sacrificing the future to get better on the back end and we wouldn't be sitting pat either. As a fan I prefer doing a little something this year, next year plans don't always work out.

Here's a trade scenario to debate.
To Moncton:
Noah Dobson
To Bathurst:
Anderson MacDonald Nicolas Kingsbury-Fournier Two 2nd round picks
If Dobson is sent back for the 2019/2020 season, Moncton gets one of those 2nd round picks back, but a future 1st round pick is sent to Bathurst.

Not enough considering he’s already going to chicoutimi for 3 firsts and a second. Also can’t see MacDonald being of interest to Bathurst. They want younger assets. He’s already going to Chic but if he wasn’t Bathurst 1st is the starting point for any trade. That offer is miles off what he’ll cost. You’re talking Pelletier, you’re talking Spence. You’re talking high 1st.

You need to buy him from Chicoutimi in future players for 19-20 and 20-21 for more then he costs them in picks. Moncton is one of the few who can do it. But you don't want to see the real cost because it would be huge.

I don’t think there’s really a debate, that’s a piss poor offer. In reality if Moncton wanted to get Dobson from Bathurst (not likely since he’s been traded) they’d have to probably start the offer with Bathurst’s 1st, Desnoyers, another 1st and a 2nd round pick/prospect. Then if Dobson is back as a 19 year old, another 1st and probably a 3rd is sent Bathurst’s way to complete the trade. So if he played half a season: Dobson for 2019 Bathurst 1st, Moncton 1st, Desnoyers and a 2nd or prospect. If he’s back at 19: Dobson for 2019 Bathurst 1st, 2 Moncton 1st’s, Desnoyers, a 2nd or prospect and a 3rd.

As mentioned, since Dobson is being sent to Chicoutimi, they want players for next year. So, realistically, I think Moncton would have to sacrifice next year in order to go for it this year.
You could probably get Dobson (and maybe Sutton if they want to upgrade on Pataki), but you'd be looking at up to (Aspirot/McKenna/Cyr) + (Pelletier/MacDonald) + Hudson at the draft.
It would be possible to keep the Bathurst 1st with that deal, and the Wildcats could kind of jump into a quick re-tool after that building around at top 5 pick in 2019, Desnoyers, NKF, Spence and Lavelle. Swap the guys who weren't traded for younger players and compete again in 2021-2022 (when Lafreniere is out of the league! Bonus!)

If this isn't the Wildcats year then they need to trade McKenna at Christmas. He most likely won't be back next year and in a Mem Cup Host year he could garner a king's ransom. What's wrong with the fans in Moncton? Brand new building, first place team, most exciting young D-man in the Q and the top scoring line in the league yet only 3,800 on a Friday night?? Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge supporter of McKenna, but I’m just not sure he’ll be playing pro next year. Being undrafted, and snubbed from the Qmjhl Russia series just doesn’t seem like an absolute lock to be gone next year. Assuming we stay relatively hot heading into Christmas I don’t think there’s any reason to blow it up by trading one of your top 3 forwards. If you assume that McKenna puts up 100 points this year, not a big reach for an NHL team to draft or sign him and let him play AHL and/or ECHL, he has nothing left to prove in the Q after last yaer and this year.

Can’t see Pelletier or Spence being moved , Moncton should only make depth moves if they make any moves at all, the price will be very high this year , and they are playing well They also don't have any need to add forwards, almost zero chance either Pelletier or Spence are moved and if there's a forward coming back its not going to be one with 3 goals for a package of those 2 players. Spence is already a top pairing dman in the league at 17. That depends if you are going "all in" or just looking to go 2 rounds. If you want to compete with Halifax, I think they need a couple forwards, one of them being a Danault type 2 way center, plus another winger(3rd line) who can play.

Any chance they upgrade Pataki with a 20 on D? Are there any decent 20's on a non-contending team? This would seem to be the most viable option. Upgrading rarely costs a lot and D is where our greatest need is. Pataki is a solid player, but if you want to compete with Halifax, he's a pretty easy upgrade. Maybe that's where you get a top d-man...Right now they have a lot of #2-3-4 guys. Bilodeau would be a great fit but expensive...

I think MacDonald's value is really low. Dobson would cost A LOT more than that, probably twice that.
