Still, any 19 yr old on a loaded team this year is quite possibly better than any of the 19 yr olds on a bottom feeder team. Plus all 19yr this year are fwd, so could use a 20yr D next year to help the young blue line. Bouthillier will be a 20 next year. Not sure what is coming from Drummondville but I suspect it will be a 20 as well. I heard there's no guarantee that a player will be coming from BC as that part is conditional, but if a player does come he'll be a good player (don't know who). That's why the place holder is such a low pick. That way if the condition is not met, BC isn't really out anything. Is the BC deal conditional based on d'Orio's return next year or something else? I assume that the Bowers - Sauve, Leonard deal is conditional on what team can convince a player to report. So, that leaves us the rd_2 that we traded to Dru for a 20yr that was unlikely to report. For a rd_2 you wuld expect a decent player.

It would be nice to know what it is so we'd know what to hope for. If he performs well there's a greater chance he's pro next year. I'd say the odds of him being back in the league next year are down significantly now that he has moved to a contender and will likely have a deep playoff run.

Not a trade but it looks like the Sea Dogs claimed Jordan Spadafore off of waivers from Val Dor. He has only played in 12 games this year. 8 with Rimouski and 4 with Val Dor.
Defense 18 years old 6'1" / 185 cm Weight 192 lbs / 87 kg

According to EliteProspects.com, he led the NOJHL in penalty minutes twice. So, I'd expect him to bring some toughness to help respond to any rough play against the kids.

If it's true that a conditional part of this trade involves an impact 20 year old coming then I would say the condition is almost certainly D'Orio returning as a 20 year old. So yeah, since the pick is so late the deal appears to be structured based on the assumption that he won't be back but SJ will get something extra if he does return. If it was performance based then the 12th round pick would probably be upgraded to a mid-round pick or something if the condition was met. From BC's perspective it makes sense to give us a 20 if he returns since they can only keep so many 20-year olds anyway.
