Lets start a series thread here. I'll throw out a couple of stats ... PP: BC is at 30.7% ... best in the Q ... Moncton at 24.3% ... 6th best in the Q PK: BC is at 81.4% ... Moncton is at 81.6% ... both in the top 4 of the Q. BC has 306 GF and 189 GA ... Moncton has 274 GF and 222 GA We split the season series, but our win came against the team they had before the trade period, which is very different now. Our 2nd half loss to them was close but they were on their third game in 48 hrs. BC Players to watch ... look them up yourself ... theqmjhl.ca/stats/team_players/190/16

Our PP and PK would suggest that we should be higher up in the standings from the 9th overall we actually finished at. This series though, our PK will be facing the best PP in the Q. I think we have to stay out of the box.

This should be a very physical series, not uncommon over the years for some shenanigans to go down in Baie Comeaus home games. Guys like Sacha Roy, Shawn Element , Charlebois, Bouchard, Ethier all play a rough and physical style but the Cats have plenty of size and toughness to keep up with them in that department. I expect a lot of post whistle scrums and hits.
Probably a little cliché but I expect the difference in the series comes down to goaltending.

Obviously who gets the better goaltending is always a big factor, but I think the series is going to come down to getting scoring from Moncton's depth players. BC is deeper up front so the Cats need some role players to step up and have a big series. Seitz is a guy that has been more effective under Torchetti and seems to thrive in playoff hockey.

I went back 10 years and I think the cats may have finished the lowest of any team with a +50 GD at 9th overall in the league, usually the 50+ teams are top 5 minimum.

I think we have to stay out of the box. The Cats did give up 14 short handed goals and scored 17. On special teams BC is +30 and the WC are +20. At ES BC is +87 and the Cats are +32, that's where the big difference is.

Plus throw in the revised playoff format ... Baie Comeau finished 4th overall and in past years would have played the 13th place finisher. Good thing they went to the new format to cut down on first round travel ... Moncton - BC, Halifax - Québec ... yet another harebrained scheme by the Q.

I thought the format change was more about having more rivals line up in Rd 1. Have we ever faced BC before in the playoffs ?
