Except for the first period Moncton outplayed Halifax , just didn’t get the bounces that we needed, so far been impressed with torchetti’s coaching , this team with the injuries and suspensions has shown a lot of determination and adaptability. My first season as a season ticket holder has been quite an experience, off to an amazing start then big slump and then torchetti coming in and turning them team into a hard working , fun to watch team. Win or lose tonight I’m happy with this team and their effort this playoffs, looking forward to next season and curious to see what happens with the draft when torchetti get to actually have input on the players that Moncton can draft/ trade for. Any thoughts on keeping # 4 Aleksi Anttalainen as an Overage next year , I know he takes two spots but been very impressed with his play so far, and with us losing some veteran defenceman we will have to trade to get an impact defenceman ? Go Cats ! Barring one of the 3 going pro the 3 20's should be McKenna, Cyr & Aspirot. I don't see any reason why McKenna should jump pro next season. He has some consistency issues he needs to work on, he should be a 120 pt/50 goal guy next season. If Anttalainen is going to stay in the Q there should be a spot for him on a team without 2 euro's. Teams could always use a top 4 D like him. I think Anttalainen goes on a special list at the end of this season. So we don't need to drop him to draft a new import. If the new import doesn't work out then you could bring Anttalainen back in, but he'd have to be willing of course, and not under contract somewhere else unless you can get his release. But you'd still have to drop one of your OAs. I think that only happens if we have a long term injury to Aspirot ... doesn't make sense otherwise. For me, Anttallainen is probably the most likely to go pro because he'd be considering options in Europe as well. Mckenna, Cyr and Aspirot are the favoured options. After them I think you look at Huntley and Campanelli depending on if you need a Dman or forward, and then Seitz or Guiguerre. Campanelli and/or Huntley are probably tradable, while Seitz and Guiguerre are probably not. It is my understanding that the 20 YO goaltender option is off the table for next year. So do we add an older goaltender (non-20) or run with Lavalee until he shows he can't handle the #1 role ?

The rumors are that Capannelli will be heading to the Armada and the Cats are getting the draft pick back from the Anttalainen deal. Its unfortanute about the ruling on the 20 year old goalies. I saw the Cats picking up Cote-Cazenave at the draft. There's always the longshot that they could find a Roman Will type pickup at the Euro draft but I wouldn't expect it. I'm not seeing any obvious 19 year old candidates to trade for.

This has been a weird series in the sense that the games have generally been close but there hasn't been a point in any of the three games where it felt like the Cats were going to win.
Halifax's 4th line getting the winning goal against the Cats 1st line last night sums things up pretty well.
It's unfortunate. I really thought this had the makings of a potential classic, rivalry series. Not looking like that will be the case at all.
It does look to me as though the Cats have quite a few players not anywhere near close to 100%. Not really an excuse at playoff time though as I'm sure Halifax has multiple players far from completely healthy as well.

Torchetti rode the top 7-8 players into the ground in round 1, now he has to count on the 4th line, not enough. They won the series against a team they had no business beating. You aren't actually going to chirp Torchetti's coaching now.. The Cats won in large part because the rode Leclerc and he outplayed D’orio. I’ll give Torchetti credit for getting the right matchups on BC’s top guys, but he did ride his 6-8 best players, that plus a 7 game series make them ineffective against Halifax.

AA can be effective on a 2nd pair, but he isn’t a guy I want taking up 2 spots if I’m contending(which I assume is the goal), he would be fine on a bottom feeder.

It gets Lavallee ready for 2020-21

Honestly I'm impressed by the effort and keeping it tight right until the end. I don't think they are tired, but rather just losing to a more talented team.

The Cats play their 4th line as much or more than most teams. Rumble isn't coaching anymore. They were even on the ice with less than 4 mins left last night. The only guy who wasn't seeing much ice in the 10 playoff games would have been the 6th defenseman, and sometimes the 5th defenseman in the BC series due to injuries..but the Cats might have been out had they rolled all 3 D pairs so I don't see how that can be a criticism when your 6th D is a guy who played Junior A all season as a 17 year old. Hebert & Berube actually saw a decent amount of ice time in Game 1 against Halifax.

He should have played them less and lost? What team isn't riding its top players in tight series this time of year? It's the playoffs...of course coaches are riding their veterans...and of course they don't look quite as good when knocking off the #2 team in the conference after riding those players and their reward is the #1 team in the conference. But the logic in your comments just make no sense. As usual you can't just give a compliment without there being some backhanded remark in there somewhere.

Every coach is trying to spot in the 4th line/3rd D pair to give them safe minutes this time of year and riding the rest in the key situations.

Yes - and the deeper teams can usually outlast the underdogs as a result, as the top players on the underdog eventually run out of gas and the support isn't there to spell them.

Playing a better deeper team is why they're not getting as much. Pretty much nobody had them knocking off the #2 seed and many of their fans were content to see them take 2 heading into game 6. You're always "just pointing out" things like that. You never just happen to point out anything positive related to the team. There's always an underlying message you try and get across that is a slight in some way towards the organization.

Injuries to top players and winning a 7 game 2-3-2 after being down 3-2 in the series all adds on to that. But just getting past Baie-Comeau after the early injuries was a huge accomplishment that isn't over shadowed by a deep Halifax team winning tight games needing empty net insurance goals.
