and the guy Gray is outduelling is former Cat Dominik Tmej.... who has had ridiculous numbers in junior A the last two years with Summerside but we all remember how he looked in the Q
no chnace the Cats have a duo of Lavallee and Gray to start next year if they plan on doing anything at all

Pelletier and McKenna have "star power"? Interesting. They are the 2 best forwards out of the 2 teams IMO. Maybe I'm underrating Asselin, but they both outscored him. Your 2 guys didn't show up. Lavoie wasn't too bad.

People forget what a huge gap there is between the Q and the MHL in terms of talent. in the same series where Gray is shining, Dawson Stairs at 16 is one of the best players for Campbellton (don't get me wrong, I think he is a good young player, but not ready to star in the Q yet ...), and guys like Noah Massie, Francois Thibault, and Jacob Arsenault are among the best defensemen (and we all remember how they looked with the Cats). All that to say, Gray could potentially, IMO, be a backup in the Q next year, but to think he would be a starter for a contender is a stretch. It's a huge jump, but look at Spence who made the jump and is one of the best 17 year old D in the QMJHL. If they are not all in next year from day 1, they may start with Gray and Lavallee plus obviously bring in a few FA's in camp for competition. What makes you think that Gray can play at this level? Have you watched him play or are you simply stat watching? Because I don’t think he’s a Q caliber goalie.

Exactly. Injuries to top players and winning a 7 game 2-3-2 after being down 3-2 in the series all adds on to that. But just getting past Baie-Comeau after the early injuries was a huge accomplishment that isn't over shadowed by a deep Halifax team winning tight games needing empty net insurance goals. Moncton traded 3 or 4 picks to add depth players, the whole point was to compete with the top teams...Giguere Antalainen and Huntley. And they passed on their 2018 Import pick. At some point they knew that Le Coultre may not be back, and they had trouble convincing Khavonov to return as he and Rumble did not see eye to eye.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest Torchetti is not Khovanov's biggest fan either ... it is beginning to appear that there is a common denominator ...

So the plan isn’t to contend next season then if you’re going with Gray as you’re starter? Great Jr. A goalie, not a starter in the Q. Lavallee is already better than he is. That sort of says to me that those guys could not improve in the two years they have been in Jr A. Sure ... as 17 yr olds they weren't ready, but with more experience and age and maturity they can be contributing players. But bottom line is that they have to win a job in camp and that's not usually doable as they are still adjusting to the different calibre.

His net impact on the team's success isn't as great as his points indicate. All his damage comes on the PP. Meanwhile he doesn't work hard in his own zone, and takes a bunch of dumb penalties. They need him to take a big step forward next year. Maybe Minnesota can motivate him to be more discipline and work harder.

Sprained ankle in game 1 against Baie-Comeau. Re-aggravated the injury against Halifax.

AA played solid hockey, but passing on that Euro pick, I still think is a really dumb move. Many Q executives were pretty surprised.
