What is everyone missing here?

What is everyone missing here? Is it possible that MacLean is playing the role of an advisor to the new owner & president? Originally I thought they wanted to be able to announce the news on their own but the way they're denying it, it almost seems like it would be awkward to name Paul MacLean the head coach.

Is the rampant denials because Shaw is being phased out with THAT being the role? I'm sure MacLean would love to work with his son who would be the ideal fit in some ways to coach a team at this level but need to wait for his pro season to end? There's some completely baseless speculation for everyone that i'm sure i'll read as a rumor somewhere over the next 12 hours

The MacLean situation is weird for sure but regarding the scouts I'd assume as JB said the Eagles would have to have scouts for the draft so obviously they'd stay on board for now. Not sure what happens after that.

The MacLean situation is weird for sure The thought of the Cape Breton rumor mill generating something that essentially goes viral and gets picked up nationally would be pretty hilarious if true. Especially if Dumont was the source telling them MacLean is his replacement based on him hearing the same things some of us did for the last while. I think there's some posturing and perhaps some legal things that may be causing all the denials based on other contracts or agreements that we'll never know of and the media is right and wouldn't run with something without a real source being used somewhere along the way. The people who actually talked to Shaw have not themselves said anything about their own beliefs on MacLean which is interesting. That was Eastlink and the local CTV guys who seemed to have sources giving them details.

Wow, only in Cape Breton. Major mixup in the backfield somewhere here.Paul MacLean being pegged as the new Head Coach by a number of media sources, then that being denied by the Team President and apparently by MacLeans agent?

He could be waiting to see if he lands an NHL assistant coaching position before he commits to the eagles.

Gerard Shaw should have ignored him at C200 and we wouldn't be going through all this Bullshit ! Or if reporters were more concerned with getting it right instead of getting it first.

The thought of the Cape Breton rumor mill generating something that essentially goes viral and gets picked up nationally would be pretty hilarious if true. Especially if So this actually looks more and more to be the case. The chain of events here as i seen it unfold was: Eastlink Steve in my OP make his tweet. Kyle Moore then tweeted that sources were telling him the same and Ryan MacDonald basically shared that tweet from his colleague. Sportsnet ran with Ryan as their source. Everyone but the Eastlink guy have deleted their tweets and stories. What an absolute gong show.

What an absolute gong show. twitter strikes again such an overrated source for news these days... because yeah everyone wants to be the "first" to break a story rather than just make sure there is a story to break you'd think the Eastlink guys would know better by now..... they were the ones who wound up looking stupid trying to break the Batherson trade last year as well
