Well I guess the article in the Post this morning from MacLeans agent kind of puts that rumour to bed. Sit and watch what happens next. Danny Flynn, Fabian Joseph, etc, etc?

So this actually looks more and more to be the case. The chain of events here as i seen it unfold was: Eastlink Steve in my OP make his tweet. Kyle Moore then tweeted that sources were telling him the same and Ryan MacDonald basically shared that tweet from his colleague. Sportsnet ran with Ryan as their source. Everyone but the Eastlink guy have deleted their tweets and stories. What an absolute gong show. twitter strikes again such an overrated source for news these days... because yeah everyone wants to be the "first" to break a story rather than just make sure there is a story to break you'd think the Eastlink guys would know better by now..... they were the ones who wound up looking stupid trying to break the Batherson trade last year as well Yep and thanks to being "small town and local" they seem to feel they have no obligation as journalists to actually be right when they claim news vs just being in the rush to be first. You know the CTV guys deleting their tweets are not getting the same reaction. But they should know better then to source a story from someone else without having a source of their own to back them up. Isn't that just basic journalistic ethics? Far from my forte but just deleting tweets vs leaving it up and tweeting a retraction is pretty bush league in appearance.

if you google "Paul MacLean Cape Breton" the SportsNet article still appears but it's deleted when you click on it
So they're still generating clicks post-deletion lol

They post this shit like it's a call center looking for resumes. If your own people don't know how to come up with a short list of people and how to attack it...well I don't even need to finish that statement.

Interesting how this is playing out. That link worked earlier sourcing Ryan MacDonalds tweet. His agent just sent out a huge denial. What is everyone missing here? Is it possible that MacLean is playing the role of an advisor to the new owner & president? Originally I thought they wanted to be able to announce the news on their own but the way they're denying it, it almost seems like it would be awkward to name Paul MacLean the head coach. I think this may be more realistic. They hired Maclean to come in and be an unbiased set of eyes to watch the Eagles play which is essentially evaluating their Coach. His final report was that MAD needed to go.

I would really think that job would be short- (or at least long-) listed internally, not put on Career Beacon or Indeed. Oh my.

We should all put in resumes because wtf is this Beyond embarrassment. You approach those who you may have interest in for a position like that. Not the other way around. You're not trying to find the best 15 english speaking high school graduates to sell roadside assistance here. So if no decent candidates apply you....go with the best of the bunch? Fuck maybe we should actually apply.

The Wildcats did something very similar to this and it also looked super Mickey Mouse. I think the ad was out there for probably 18 months with no candidate hired. In the end once they fired Rumble they were able to get Torchetti to take both positions making the ad basically useless. Irving obviously already had Torchetti as a contact since they worked together before.
