Team Thomas
William Poirier looked good playing along side of Stairs and Drover. One thing I think he struggles with is his decision making.
Dawson Stairs was a force... He is relentless on the forecheck causing turnovers and making plays out of nothing. He is hard to knock off the puck and is a tireless worker. Excited to watch him play full time this season.
Alex Drover looked like a man on a mission out there. It looks like he had a big off season. His shot is hard and accurate and is good at finding those open spaces for that big one timer. Was very impressive today.
Connor Richard looked good in the practice but didn’t notice him as much in the game. He has a nice accurate shot.
Carson Gallant was playing forward during the game... has a big body but doesn’t seem to use it to his advantage.
Riley Bezeau likes to get in the dirty areas and scored at least one goal in doing so.
Will Villeneuve had a big day controlling the blue line... He looks to have matured and is confident out there. All things point to a big season of progression from him.
Kale McCallum looked poised out there and made some tough plays look easy.
Patrick Musico looks to have grown since last season. He played physical and made safe plays.
Alex Wynter is a tall lanky D man who played hard and was physical in front of his own net.

Team Gallant/Kelly
Nic Guay is going to score some goals this season. He has a big body and a laser beam shot. He skates well and has good chemistry with Josh Lawrence. He is likely the next captain.
Josh Lawrence looks to have gained some much needed strength in the offseason without giving up on his speed and agility. He looks like a water bug with his tight turns and puck possession. He went bar down a few times today.
James white looks to have gained some speed this offseason. Big body who can do a bit of everything. I liked what I saw from him today.
Ben Badalamenti has good hands and does well along the boards, not overly physical.
Alexis Belisle has some serious wheels, he burned someone wide and scored a beautiful goal bar down.
Charles Savoie looks like he belongs out there. He has good size for a 16 year old and makes smart plays.
Joona Lehmus has quick feet and good positioning. His shot and strength might need some improvement, overall looked good but may need some time to adjust to the league.

Nick Deakin has good speed for a big body and was hard on the forecheck.... He had something going with James White in the game I saw. I have a hard time figuring which 20 to keep between him and Porier ( assuming Roy reports). Thanks for the report on all 3 teams. I'm very excited to see them in action. As for the 20-year-old situation, if Roy reports that will make five 20-year-olds at camp. Bouthillier, Guay, Deakin-Poot, Poirier, and Roy. There was talk about goalies not counting as one of the three 20-year-old spots but I'm pretty sure that idea was shot down or at least it's not in effect yet. I think the first two I mentioned would be considered locks to make the team unless a trade offer is made that the Sea Dogs can't refuse. I definitely agree about Guay being captain this season. After that I think it would be a battle between NDP and Roy for the 3rd spot. I'm not familiar enough with Roy to know who the edge would go to but NDP is a team player and Roy is currently absent from camp (might have a very good reason we're not aware of). I really can't see Poirier making the team unless he has an unexpectedly strong camp. I've liked him the last couple of seasons but I just can't see him being one of the three 20s.

I really like what I saw from Stairs and Drover as well. I can see them having good seasons and look out when they hit 18 and 19.

I like Stairs. I think he's going to be a hell of a QMJHL player.

I think Stairs could end up being the best player out of the 02 group that we have.

Roy was ok today. He didn’t stand out either way good or bad in my opinion. He was playing with a couple of grinders in Jacob and Macintosh though.

Anyone know who left after 48 hours for ncaa? Also has anyone heard any news out of camp? No news on Sasha Roy, Sibley, Plamondon. Nothing coming from the Dogs, or any of the media.

I would assume that each has chosen not to attend camp given that 1) i don't believe we have ever not invited a protected player to camp and 2) each of the three of them would have been in a battle to make the roster

I've heard that Sacha Roy, Brendan Sibley and Yohan Plamondon all chose to stay home and they are likely to play Junior A close to their homes.
I'm quite sure that the Sea Dogs will make a statement tomorrow (or Monday) about departures and cuts. Anthony Cliche, Cade DeStefani and possibly Robert Orr will likely head home today.

Based on the scrimmages so far, here's my best guess at the lineup to start the season (assuming no trades between now and then). NOTE: please don't get caught up on which line is 1-4.
J. Roy - Lawrence - Guay 20 (NDP/WP) - Burns - Cajkovic White - Drover - Stairs C. Savoie - MacIntosh - Jacob
2/3 of Belisle, Bezeau, Gallant, Richard or a free agent (Badalamenti, Kimble or Vander Voet)
Poirier - DesRoches Lehmus - Villeneuve Spadafore - McCallum Kakouras - Musico
Bouthillier DaSilva / Patenaude / M. Savoie

Been hearing and reading lots of good things about Stairs and Drover. Really looking forward to watching them as full-time members of the team this season.
Have to figure that the no-shows would be willing to report to certain other teams in the league if traded, especially teams closer to home. Their trade value would obviously be weakened unless there were multiple potential trading partners. I think Sibley could have decent value.

When did or does the 48 hour mark go into effect for players to lose NCAA elegibility? I see that Cliche is supposed to be in the lineup tonight. I wonder if they made him promises to make the team. He looked pretty good the two times that I saw him. The d core will be young if he sticks 4 17s and a 16.
