Our third line spent most of their night in the Rimouski end, winning races and puck battles. Daoust is fun to watch with how hard he works and can stick handle in a phone booth. The improvement for Daoust from the beginning of the season until now has been something to watch. Somewhat expected since he played in a lower tier last year but still one of the most impressive in-season improvements I have seen in a long time. He's now capable of carrying a line on his own.

He just needs to add some muscle and about 20 pounds ... he is a little too light right now, but he doesn't shy away from any sort of contact.

I think he will get top 6 minutes next year and he could have decent value at the trade period as a 50(+or – 5 points) point guy who plays a solid all around game.

As a season ticket holder I realize that we went all in this year , but I don't won't to go through what bathurst went through for 2 full seasons. Our 2016-2017 season was necessary and now we see the rewards , however I believe we can still ice a good season next year by moving Pelletier/ Spence and Desyoners (hopefully not L'Heureux ) and get some picks back , although we don't know if/how many futures are involved in the deals we made. Still lots of unknowns until the draft , We will still have some good prospects coming up Pavan, Dow as well as a few others. If L'heureux or Desnoyers stays and we keep Hudson and Daoust we have have some scoring, and with some drafting luck at the CHL import draft could get an impact player.
The Huskies seem to be good at having competitive teams most seasons, hopefully we can recover quickly!

You guys have had it pretty good in Moncton in spite of an erratic owner. Enjoy your playoff run. Worry about next season in June after you're done whining about losing L'Heareux

Any chance there is a site that monitors ice-time for junior games? Lafrenierre must have played 30+. He had 10 minutes in PP time alone. I don't know if this game was an outlier, but his stats might be inflated a bit by the enormous amount of ice he sees in a game. Not taking away from his talent, but give Khovanov 30+ and full 2 minute PP time and I'd wager he leapfrogs Lafrenierre on the leader board. Overall, really good game by the Cats. The only even strength goal scored was when McIsaac & Dejong were off. They contained Lafrenierre and dictated the play 5v5. They shots were pretty even, given the huge advantage Rimouski had in PP opportunity. I was sitting behind the Moncton bench when Dejong lambasted Lafrenierre in the first period. What a hit and I think that set a bit of the tempo for Moncton after that. Both goalies played well, but I think Ellis faced more quality scoring chances and deserved a 3rd star of the night. Moncton came in waves and Ellis consistently shut the door. Khovanov hit a crossbar and Pelletier missed on his first breakaway of the night. Would really enjoy a semifinal matchup with this team. Boggles my mind that Rimouski didn't insulate Lafrenierre with more at the deadline. They will go as far as he takes them in the playoffs. Not sure how he will do in a 7 game series playing that much hockey. Bolduc looked really good for a rookie and was IMO their 2nd best player. Effortless skater and really good offensive instincts. Dangerous shots were 17-13 in favour of the Cats .

A few have them lately have been worrying about the backup goalie, wanting Torchetti back, overreacting to a McKenna slump etc. We haven't seen a team built like this in 10 years. I guess that's just human nature for ya.

Whatever they have left, it will likely be a tough couple of years, A price I will gladly pay to have a powerhouse team who has a legit chance at a Presidents cup and Memorial Cup. I’m quite curious to know what players are going and picks coming back. I think if L’heureux doesn’t go as a futures, they may have to move him next year if he has a strong start, they can’t risk having him go pro at 18 and get nothing. They could probably get a big haul like Veleno in SJ and possibly have conditional picks if he returns. I’m sure he would have a lot of interest. Guys like Stewart and Daoust could have good value. Obviously Spence or Pelletier if they stay would be huge chips.

You can't have all the success and rebuild properly as well. You break down your last 10 years in 3 months and it's arguably not all that far off from a Rouyn or other top teams people want to strive for that just isn't a realistically sustainable expectation as it literally is luck that gets you there where a London does it in different ways that would just not work in this league. If Rouyn knew all the kids they picked in middle rounds would develop like they did they never would have left them on the board that long. A huge part of that development and success is luck in hitting a pile of picks at once that turn out.

A huge part of that development and success is luck in hitting a pile of picks at once that turn out. In order to do what RN did, you obviously need good scouts, but you also need to keep those picks(pretty hard to draft and develop with only 2 picks in the top 6 rounds) and also have the patience to leave them in MAAA and have them play at 17 in a depth role, growing into bigger role. The Cats the last 10 years have often 1-traded away a bunch of their early picks(without having a contender on the ice) 2-drafted kids that didn't want to play in the Q and never showed. 3-the ones they DID draft, a lot of them were traded away at 16/17 for older players or because they did not play enough. You can find a lot of what NOT TO do in junior from the Cats in the 2010's, mostly with the Shannon regime. That being said, it's not realistic to expect every Q team to draft like RN, just like it's not for every OHL team and London. all that being said, this team is impressive and enjoyable to watch and hopefully they can add a 2020 banner next to the 2006 and 2010 ones.

So a Halifax team that has been getting beaten handily by virtually everyone since their trades just shutout Rimouski 1-0 last night... WOW. Bit of a let down after losing in Moncton? No excuse for that, they could go 0-3 on this Maritime trip with a game against a Cape Breton left....

No excuse for that, they could go 0-3 on this Maritime trip with a game against a Cape Breton left.... Those two games were likely the last chance for Rimouski to finish 1 or 2 in the division. They are only 1 behind Chicoutimi but Chi has 5 games in hand. 7 behind Moncton with Mon having 3 in hand. 1st and 2nd is still up for grabs, Chi is 6 behind with 2 in hand. Sherbrooke looks solid at 1st overall but it’s getting tighter, Moncton is 7 back with a game in hand and Chicoutimi 13 back with 3 in hand. With PEI struggling the top 4 in the division are pretty much set, CB has a 14 point edge plus 2 games in hand.

They had a 12 game winning streak before Moncton so I hope they start to lose some confidence. They must have just sleep walked into that game and assumed that they’d win just by showing up. Good for the Mooseheads.

I’m just hoping that Moncton can hold onto first in the East and that Chicoutimi goes on a bit of a losing streak to open up a little breathing room.

I think 1st place in the division will be decided by the WC upcoming trip, 27th to March 1st…Chi Bc Rim. Chicouimi needs to beat them or they likely won’t finish 1st, the Wc losing to Chi and Rim would likely give Chicoutimi a great chance at 1st. The last 2+ weeks of the schedule is pretty soft for Moncton, lots of home games and Maritime games.
