I'm more concerned/focused on Baie Comeau possibly finishing in the lotto. If so, we are guaranteed a top 5 pick. If not, then there are two picks from last year that will be 6th and 7th overall, meaning whoever finishes 6th last this year actually picks 8th.

Worst game I seen since Cowan took over defense was terrible I counted at least 10 times they were beat to the outside and the forwards not much better didn't win a battle on the boards all night.

Are you guys happy with Villeneuve and Poirier on the back end? Obviously there both dynamic offensively but the last 3 games they have been absolutely terrible defensively is this just 3 bad games or are they always that soft defensively?

Are you guys happy with Villeneuve and Poirier on the back end? Obviously there both dynamic offensively but the last 3 games they have been absolutely terrible defensively is this just 3 bad games or are they always that soft defensively? It's quite common. They show little interest in defense. Not saying they don't try defensively at all but it certainly isn't their priority. They seem more interested in racking up points. It doesn't help that they are the top pair at 17 without a true defense coach. Personally, I'd rather split them up and see a bit more of some of the other guys who are better defensively.

Your observations are correct. The pair fancy themselves as modern day Bobby Orr’s and while they have had some offensive benefit they are often caught out of position defensively as a result. Also, they can often be beaten to the outside and/or knocked out of puck battles. The dogs aren’t last in goals against by bad luck but rather an overall lack of defensive focus.

Yes these last 3 games they’ve looked to be about as poor defensively as any team I’ve seen in a while.

It is a problem with the whole team, not just defense. They are completely running on talent. What they are missing is proper coaching. By now they have a two year set back of no proper coaching. Really hope the Dogs are addressing this next season. Just hope it is not too late for this generation. This team has so much potential, still.

A fairly significant game tonight as we have Drummondville's 1st round pick, the 3rd and last 1st round pick from the Veleno trade. I really thought this would likely be a lottery pick but Drummondville is currently in 6th place overall, and will likely finish there or 7th. The good news about the 3 losses in a row to the Islanders is that they are now only 1 point back of Drummondville but have played 2 more games. A win by the Sea Dogs tonight would be the 4th straight game the Sea Dogs could help the Islanders pass the Voltigeurs.

After the great game they played against CB, the sea dogs have put together 4 of the absolute most horrifying games. Out scored 26 to 8 in those 4 games
If watching Poirier on Drummondville second goal doesn’t show that we need a D coach I don’t know what else will

This team is brutal right now good on Zach for giving it to the bench it should be Cowan showing some emotion shows me that georgie is running the whole show and the guy behind the bench is a statue. This team needs some heart or we won't be a contender next year or the year after.

We have to be on pace for a franchise record for shots against, if it hasn't been broken already. It's only thanks to the offence and goaltending that they are even close to mid pack, but the offence seems to have dried up lately and goaltending can only do so much.

This team is missing leadership and heart. They are not going to win anything with this team. Blow it up next year and build around Roy and the next generation.
Felt sorry for Bouthillier. Just going through the player list to see who actually showed up tonight. Only players worth mentioning...Gould and Roy
What got me the most was Villeneuve consoling Bouthillier after the game, while he was a big reason for the goalie being frustrated.
Poirier, Stairs and Laurence glued to the bench in the third. It's that they needed bodies on the ice, cause they should have benched more than just them.
It just looks like they gave up on the season already. And that in front of a near full house. Disgusting!

I'm still pretty optimistic for next season but only if they get a true defense coach. Inniss and everyone being a year older should help but they really need a defense coach. In the meantime, please split up Poirier and Villeneuve except maybe on the power play.

I'll give credit where it's due. Desroches seems to be focusing more on defense than offense in comparison to last season. Lehmus wasn't here last season (didn't see him in the U17) but has offensive skill but seems competent defensively. It's the 2 most skilled "d-men" that are the problem as recently mentioned by an Islander fan.
