Here’s another wildcard... what’s the chances Morrisey would play his OA season as an Islander with what’s going on around the world? I would think it’s low, I think if you’ve waited this long... that you probably aren’t going to pass up the opportunity to pursue the NCAA to play a year in the CHL and then go CIS.

I would be surprised if the Isles had let Morrisey go - most teams tend to keep any locals with legit NCAA aspirations on their list until they age out just in case ... the guys that tend to get released are the guys who held out for NCAA with no actual NCAA opportunities (i.e. just not good enough for either NCAA or major junior) or sometimes the American guys (who have zero interest in ever playing major junior).

Morrissey is a 2001 born so next season would be his 19 y/o season.
I suspect he is still on our list. Generally, the guys they drop are the guys they’ve cut 2-3 times already. As has been mentioned, no shows who look to be NCAA bound usually stay on team lists just in case plans change.
But I don’t expect we will see him. If he plays major junior now he only has 2 year to get education money. He’s on the cusp of starting that NCAA career in September. He has waited to get to that level and can wait some more.
I think that a guy who is 16/17 who changes his mind from NCAA to major junior gets a nice long junior career and accumulates a good amount of his education money. By the time a player hits 18/19, I question if switching is a good move because he is running out of time to get a accumulate his education money from the CHL. Of course, you have the right to decide if you want to switch pathways. But to me, the economics of switching pathways this late in a junior career doesn’t make a lot of sense.

i was going on the assumption he was 20 because the poster i quoted asked if anyone thought he would come play his overage season
being that he's 19 yes i imagine there's a chance he's still on the list then..... but you don't keep someone who has never shown up or interest on your list for 4 years .... generally speaking

Morrissey was drafted a year after Casey. Both guys game out of Notre Dame College in Saskatchewan. I thought the Islanders might be able to convince Morrissey to play by pointing at Casey's success and development.
But every player is different.

Don’t think Peyton has played well enough to be given a guaranteed spot At least make him earn it. Don’t agree with that move at all

Don’t agree with that move at all It’s easy to say they’re committed to him, but if there’s an upgrade available then everybody knows what will happen. Edwards was rumoured to be heading to the Caps at the deadline, so no real surprise he didn’t make the cut.

From what I’m reading the Edwards camp isn’t to impressed with Hulton and Co and rightfully so. I get that Edwards had his work cut out for him but in my eyes Jim should have told him he wasn’t in the plans personally and not let the kid find out via watching this interview that is pretty fucking sad.

It’s a fine line to walk but to me when you’re a borderline Q player at best, you really shouldn’t expect the opportunity to come to camp as 20. Now I don’t agree with Peyton being a 20 but it’s not like Edwards tore the doors down and earned the benefit of the doubt here. It sucks for the player and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t informed either via exit meetings or prior to this that he wasn’t in the cards. Teams are usually very forthcoming and up front with those guys when the season ends, it usually never comes as a surprise. I would be surprised if Edwards didn’t know, despite what you’re reading.

Edwards found out tonight by watching this interview he was asked to come to camp when the season ended than tonight watching this found out they already have the 3 20s picked. I’m not saying he should be guaranteed a spot but I think he and Peyton should of battled the spot out.
