LaStarza still there worth a gamble? I really don’t think he’s ever coming to the league but yeah at this point he’s the clear best player available.

Pick 57 - Francesco Iasenza
Mature player for his age. Reads the ice well. Exceptional vision. Crisp passer. Walks in line with ease. Could develop into a high-end offensive defenseman.

Pick 75 - Nathan Casey
Hard working, high energy type player with the ability to chip in offensively.

6'1" 175lbs is not small for a 16 year old. Just turned 16. My bad. I was looking at the Q site draft screen and he is shown at 5'9" 130 lbs. 6'1" and 175 lbs sounds better. Yea CSR for some reason used data from his bantam year.

Yea CSR for some reason used data from his bantam year. I think they used to weight/measure guys at the Gatorade challenge, this year it was not an option. CSR lists Nathan Casey as 5'8" 135#, HP has him at 184# ... pretty big spread ... who knows? Cats just went way off the board and picked a prep goalie ranked for rounds 13+ who is apparently 5'8" tall, not ranked at all by HP ... why do we always have to try and be smarter than everyone else? Can't we just make solid, sensible picks? It is not as bad as it was during the Shannon era, but we still seem allergic to players who were successful in Quebec or Maritime MAAA leagues and are a known quantity ...

Their first 4 picks, despite 3 of them playing away are all known quantities. I don’t think that’s a case of them trying to out smart everyone else. I’m a little surprised with the Casey and Katz pick but you’re into project territory and looking for some traits that you hope can project out... so maybe they think they have those traits. It was too early for them though.

Yeah, without the Gatorade, QMJHL CSR does not have the opportunity to get updated height and weight measurements like usual.

Well, that is good to hear. I just don't like gambling on these unknown prep guys ... half of them never report, and the ones that do tend to be no better than what we could have other wise drafted closer to home. If you are gamble, at least go on someone with a high ceiling like a Lastarza type.

I think Covid did a number on a lot of kids wanting to go NCAA, we saw that early on, it would suck to have some of these kids not showing. Hopkins did an interview with the team so he is a safe bet.
