Now can they get him in the lineup. He played 6 AHL games last season. Must have been at the end of his NCAA season. It look like a very good add if they can. Just what we need.

With Francis and Poirier here it makes sense Calgary could/would have him come here next year and work closely with the team on their development.

Kuznetsov is a great pick, he’s the type of player they need on the back end.

If he ends up here, Kuznetsov might be the best d in the league. It's a major upgrade for free.
If he doesn't, we probably bring Hampl over to be a Stich.
I dont know anything about Sapelnikov but I hope he can our other top 6 fw.

My too early lineup would be something like:
Francis - Reynolds - Dufour
Burns - MacDonald - Sapelnikov
Savoie - Bezeau - Lawrence
Mccluskey - Patella - Dagenais
(Whoever else makes it with the last 4-5 fw spots being an open competition)
Kuznetsov - Villeneuve
Drapeau - Inniss
Poirier - Desroches
Casey
Lemieux
Patenaude

My too early lineup would be something like: Francis - Reynolds - Dufour Burns - MacDonald - Sapelnikov Savoie - Bezeau - Lawrence Mccluskey - Patella - Dagenais (Whoever else makes it with the last 4-5 fw spots being an open competition) Kuznetsov - Villeneuve Drapeau - Inniss Poirier - Desroches Casey Lemieux Patenaude I would switch Lawrence and MacDonald because Lawrence and Burns seem that they had some chemistry going in the playoffs plus Lawrence is our top face off guy. MacDonald And Savioe also looked good together before Savioe injury both big body guys. Just my opinion though. |

I am looking forward to seeing if Reynolds and MacDonald take a big step being a year older. They were good last year as rookies.
Certainly would be nice if the Flames send Kuznetsov to the Dogs. He would make a very good addition to the line up. With him and Innis on the back End. Keep your head up!

Some training camp battles that could be interesting:
We have 9 forwards who should be locks, meaning 5 spots open where the best player would make it (and a possibility of better ice time to be had)
On D, 7th spot should be a battle between Casey, Dow, Roode and Gartley

It will be interesting to get a look at some of the kids drafted in 2019 and 2020 that didn't get an invite to camp last year. I wonder if any of them are ready to grab a spot on the team.

At the very least Patella hopefully will be. I think the only Americans that we've drafted that might report are the two from this year, but I think both would be strong candidates for spots. This could also be a good year to send out some invites to try to catch lightning in a bottle. |
