There is talk of the WC training in Gaspe ahead of the 2nd half, anybody hear anything on dates? In the US cases are dropping in the NE, we are seeing cases drop in NB but hospitalizations are up the last 7-10 days.

Sea Dogs are hoping to be in Rivière du Loup by the end of the week - SNB/MON/BAT practicing in Quebec is pending league owners approval

And some people cried like fukkin' babies when the Moose moved a game ahead by a day to avoid Covid rules. . .

How can anyone view crossing a border to avoid a restriction as ethical at this point? Quebec's hospitalizations are off the charts so lets go practice there? What world are we even in at this point? The thought of it is laughable.

I guess you could say the difference is the teams asked NB Pubic Health for their approval before moving forward with this plan rather than just going ahead and doing it.

NB public health is in charge of Quebec's health care system? Shouldn't Quebec be making that decision? How can NB be shut down, Quebec have off the charts hospitalizations, yet NB decide to sent 3 hockey teams into Quebec to train if they wont allow it in NB? The logic is baffling here.

They know teenaged hockey players won't end up in their hospitals and having those people there help boost local enconomies.

The province of Quebec knows that 70 teenagers practicing hockey wont get injured? No slips/falls? No fluke concussions? Broken bones? What do you even mean by that? How can someone know athletes preparing for a sport wont get hurt in their training? Everything for 2 years...100% of measures...has been to protect health care systems. And when Quebec's has been arguably the worse of the entire pandemic you're going to say they know hockey players wont get hurt practicing hockey? Thats a hell of an assumption is it not? Just let them practice at home if you're sending them to Quebec knowing they wont get hurt. Never mind the covid spreading factor...we're in a twilight zone at this point.

You're making no sense and grandstanding. How many times do QMJHL teams practice and then send players to the hospital? How many times has that happened on 18 teams this year practicing over 3+ months?

How many times have players been injured practicing? More then zero I think we can safely say. Why cant they practice in NB? I'm not grandstanding by asking questions you're not answering. If they cant practice in your back yard why are you sending them into someone elses where the health care system is in an even worse state? Are we now saying that grandstanding is questioning why you're applying logic to your own province but happy to send people into another with the same risks to their system as yours? Seriously I am not understanding why thats ok. Questioning it isn't grandstanding. It's being consistent with what we've done for the last 2 years with this pandemic by not willingly adding risk to others health care systems during peaks. And Quebec is at a peak right now. So we can take it in any direction here...the pandemic, odds of injury, risk mitigation and why...but please pick 1 so we can all better understand what the plan would be here. Because as I see it you're the one grandstanding as I couldnt even tell if that first post wasn't straight up sarcasm because it certainly could have been based on the laughable statement that nobody gets injured practicing hockey.

I never said nobody gets injured practicing for hockey but saying it would overrun the healthcare system in the Gaspe region is downright comical. I have no idea why they can't practice in NB, I don't make the rules. The people overrunning the hospitals are not vaccinated teenagers, they are unvaxinated idiots and vaccinated folks with multiple risk factors. None of which major junior teams would have direct contact with while practicing. A big part of the problem is still the unvaxinated minority, so make rules for them not the rest of us.

Fuck you make it hard to have normal discussions. Nobody said it WILL overrun the health care system in Gaspe. We're saying it already IS overrun so adding more people to their population who are there to mainly train and get into shape is a risk you should put on your own system. This has nothing to do with unvaccinated people. Its just seeing the data in Quebec and asking why you'd send someone there vs just letting them practice in your own region. Or are you saying them practicing in Moncton will overrun the healthcare system in New Brunswick? Do you not see how that extreme take on this adds nothing to the discussion? We're talking about mitigating risk on health care. Vaccinated people are in the hospitals as well we can all see lots of data...unvaccinated by ratio is much higher...but the people in hospital are still rising in Quebec right now. You being pissed at the pandemics existence isn't helping answer the question of why its ok to travel and practice in a region worse off in terms of the health care system.

The hospitalizations in Quebec are in the big cities, not in Gaspe. Starting this week sports teams were given the go ahead to practice province wide. Practicing in NB would also have no impact on the healthcare system either. I think it's just a PR move by Higgs because he doesn't want parents with kids at lower levels pissed at him.

You said that first part as if the province wouldn't/couldn't utilize staff from Gaspe to go into other areas. NB's desperately trying to hire nurses to roam around to different hospitals based on need...$1000 weekly top up bonus with $1000 signing bonus I believe was the report. Problem with our health systems is 1 province having 1 issue in a big city can mean resources lost from those surrounding regions. Thats why its not ethical to just say "Montreal has issues so lets surround Montreal with our hockey players and there should be no issue" as thats exactly when something serious happens and everyone looks incompetent.

I think the bigger issue is its winter and sending players unnecessarily to QC in bad roads or weather when their rinks are empty and they all have very good covid protocols in place. I know Bathurst had to skate in shifts on a pond to get any ice, without fear of arrest. Heaven forbid kids are active. Government seems to want fat basement dwellers stuck on video games continuing the poor health cycle which makes this virus an issue to begin with.
