Something cool I noticed, former Acadie-Bathurst Titan (and Sea Dog / Gatineau Olympic) Dawson Theede has made the Halifax Thunderbirds roster this year. I remember he was always a dual-sport athlete and one of the things I always heard about him was he was an even better Lacrosse player than he was a hockey player. Well, I guess him making an NLL roster is evidence of that! www.halifaxthunderbirds.com/players/detail/theedeHe’s been playing off and on with Rochester/Halifax since like 2019. He’d play hockey at SMU until that season ended and then go play lacrosse in the NLL. He’s put up some pretty solid numbers in the NLL too. Huh, I don't remember seeing him but we only got out to one game last year. I'll admit I dont follow the NLL that closely. Still cool tho.

23 year old Noah Dobson is currently 4th in scoring for NHL defencemen with 27 points in 27 games. Sitting in 30th spot overall amongst all skaters. Very impressive.

Dobson registered 3 assists in last night's game vs Montreal. That brings his total to 51 points for the year so far (6g 45a). That equals his career high in points through 48 games. He is 3rd amongst defencemen scoring in the League and 18 overall amongst all skaters. He is currently the leading scorer for the Islanders. Plus he leads all players in the NHL for TOI. Last night during the Gallagher major penalty - he logged a shift of 4:38 and his total TOI for the game was 30:17.
His 3 year $12MM contract expires at the end 2023/24. I wonder what it's gonna cost to sign him then?

I wonder what it's gonna cost to sign him then? he's having an unreal year, and overall the Islanders themselves have been mediocre so he's a bright spot. If I had to guess I would assume his contract will be in the 9-10M AAV range. Nurse and Jones being 9M guys makes me believe he will be more. Plus with the cap going up it's more likely. Makar and Hughes are arguably on bargains so realistically Dobson should be around those values but he will get more just based on time of signing the contract. I don't think he passes Doughty at 11M though.

not sure if it'll be possible but hope he wins a Norris one day or at least gets close to it. He's got some tough competition in his age range. still impressive how many he put up last year as the Islanders are usually a more defensive ran system.
