Congratulations to former Islander Sam Oliver on capturing the Gilles-Courteau trophy with Drummondville.
Oliver was a great young player when we traded him away to prepare for our big run, so it’s great he gets the experience to contend an win with the Volts as a 19 y/o player.
Best of luck at the Memorial Cup!

And of course also congratulations to Peter Repcik on being part of the win. I completely forgot about him. He had a very successful season with Drummondville. I would not be surprised if his success this season plus his impressive play at World Junior tournaments result in him having an opportunity to move on to pro hockey in North America if he wishes to stay on this continent after he finishes junior hockey. P.O Joseph signed a 1 year deal in St.Lois to join his brother Mathieu! I'm surprised Pittsburgh didn't try keeping him. He's still young at 25 years old, really finding his game in the NHL. His stats may not be the best but they aren't bad factoring in an aging team going into a rebuild soon and he plays a position that takes a bit longer to really mature and grow into. Hopefully he has a great year in St. Louis and earns a good contract after this season. It's easy to cheer for a guy as nice as PO. Hockey needs more people like him.

The Pens didn’t issue him a qualifying offer, which made him and unrestricted FA. Some articles I read suggested they hoped to resign him but at a reduced salary….but when he is unrestricted he has the option to shop around! a bit surprised Sprong still sitting out there unsigned.... a very flawed player but has produced well past few years in different team systems as a 4th line option who can spot up the lineup and also play PP
is he trying to cash in big on those stats and pricing himself out of a job?

I think that any team that needs scoring would add him on a 1yr deal....but I'm sure he's looking for term, which I don't think teams have interest in. If he would accept a role.... PP specialist and opportunity to play up in the lineup when team needs....and take a 1yr deal...I think he would get an offer. If the Habs signed him to a 1yr 1M deal....I'd be ok with it. He can score. Play him on the PP.....play him in games where they think he could be useful.....if injuries happen he could jump up into 2nd line role.....but they need to make it clear that he won't be an every day player.

Looks like Sam Bowness is going to be playing in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds this year. He's listed on their 23 man pre-season roster. link
