Yep ......he's the Best in this League . Hulton's record since becoming head coach of the Islanders: 35-26-5-2 (2015-16) - 9th Lost in 2nd round 46-18-4-0 (2016-17) - 4th Lost in semi-finals 34-27-7-0 (2017-18) - 9th Lost in semi-finals 40-21-4-0 (2018-19) - 6th Lost in 1st round 33-26-5-0 (2019-20) - 7th at time of season cancellation 35-5-0-0 (2020-21) - 1st Lost in semi-finals 48-13-7-0 (2021-22) - 2nd To be determined 274-133-32-2 (.660%) The whole story is pretty amazing when you think about it..... After several years of being the laughing stock of the Q (PEI Rocket), new ownership comes in at the last minute to keep the team in Charlottetown in 2013. That first year as the Charlottetown Islanders is the only losing season they have had to date.

I still think he's a better GM than a coach
but he is also a helluva coach
completely turned this franchise around after one initial rocky 1/2 year to start..... way to go Hultsy

Didn't know where to post this......or even if I should..... seeing as their season is not even close to being over....SJ, here we come!!
But what a way to fill the cupboards and add some high end young talent with the trade chips they will have this off season.
Guay Lepenna Brabenec
What a haul all those 3 will bring back........wow.

A Guay trade would also add a new branch to the PO Joseph trade tree. It's pretty interesting how that's worked out.

A Guay trade would also add a new branch to the PO Joseph trade tree. It's pretty interesting how that's worked out. As would a Dawson Stairs trade.... The original trade was Drummondville Bernard, Xavier (2000-01-06) Trudeau, William (2002-10-11) RD_2, 2019 (Rim) RD_1, 2021 RD_2, 2021 Charlottetown Joseph, Pierre-Olivier (1999-07-01) I think this is how it breaks down:

As much as PO was a great Islander it’s a trade that just keeps giving.

I personally would prefer to see them moved in the off season.....maybe not all 3.....but at least Guay. Teams will still pay a premium price......and less risk of him facing an injury.

Hulton did a great job not only getting value for PO at the time (who thought Trudeau would end up being this much of a contributor?) but continuing to put those assets to use in future years.

I still think he's a better GM than a coach but he is also a helluva coach completely turned this franchise around after one initial rocky 1/2 year to start..... way to go Hultsy I totally agree with this because it's nothing short of a miracle how Jim Hulton could turn the team into a top contender several years in succession despite what has to be the most horrendous draft record in the league over the past three seasons. The only players playing semi-regularly for them out of those drafts are 5th, 7th and 9th rounders (Todd - Boyd - Horth) from what I can see. Topilnyckyj and Brett Arsenault could be in the future plans - but we're talking a pretty small return from 41 draft picks over the past three seasons combined. I haven't looked at every team's draft record over the past three seasons - but I will be doing that in the near future - and I can't imagine finding any team that has done a worse job at identifying talent in the draft. That's brutal drafting - and sooner or later - it's going to show. They're not my team and no big deal about who they draft - but it's absolutely amazing the job Hulton has done as a GM. He has literally made chicken salad out of chicken feathers. That's amazing work as a GM - but now is likely the best time for Hulton to move on to the Pro ranks - IMO. I think he's an amazing coach AND GM and the draft record shows that he's been working some minor miracles.
