Burns will serve the last game of his suspension tonight. Curious if he's already played his last game as a Sea Dog, not many buyers left in the market for OAs.
If he does end up staying, he's a lock to be the new franchise leader for goals - currently in third, 2 behind Huberdeau and 6 back of Kirkpatrick. He's also got a good shot at franchise points although he'll need 38 in 33 games in a second half where points for anyone will be hard to come by. The suspension might end up being the difference maker which is a shame.

With the trade period coming to an end, I think you’ll see SJ make a couple final moves. Now I’ve been wrong before but you may see them sign a free agent or two outside of the Q. With MacDonald and Trenholm gone they need some centre depth. I’d be looking into the JR A leagues in Ontario, the CCHL etc… but what do I know

McCallum was released by VD to play university. Wonder if he ends up back here. The chances are likely very slim but it could depend of which university Kale is going to. Due to the "boomerang rule" (i.e. players cannot be traded back to a team until 2 years after they were traded away), that was not an option. But I recall Creed Jones returning to Rimouski from Saint John in the same season because he went through waivers.

That being said, he may not want to play for a terrible team at home.

With MacDonald and Trenholm gone they need some centre depth. I’d be looking into the JR A leagues in Ontario, the CCHL etc… but what do I know Trevor did make two relatively minor trades minutes before the deadline. Nathan Casey ('04) should add depth upfront, especially with the departure of Cam MacDonald and Connor Trenholm. I believe that Tomasz Szczerba may be injured again as well. As for Tristan Dassylva ('05), that could turn out to be a steal. He was highly rated by HockeyProspects.com ('HP.com') in 2021 - 15th overall and was drafted early in round 2 by BAC. For comparison, here are the HP.com 2021 rankings of others drafted by Saint John that year; Grenier (19), Burbidge (26), Elie (27) and Brideau (30). Sam-Luca Thifault was rated 43rd and Nicolas Bilodeau 62nd as well. Those guys are likely to be core players moving forward.

No gdt for tonight's game so I'll comment here gritty effort by the dogs tonight a few bounces our way and it was a game we could have won. Halifax was terrible one of the worst teams here this year they have alot of work to do to contend with the Quebec teams. On a side note if a player is gonna yap at the refs the whole game justified or not you are not gonna get the calls.

I'll be interested to see what our final roster looks like.
Today is the waiver draft (only claims usually get mentioned).
Dassylva is with Princeville which is known for guys not leaving mid season.
Casey hasn't played all year.
Tracey wasn't listed as a scratch last night.
Calder wasn't listed as an AP.
Fwiw, Hurtubise WAS listed as a HS.

Word is that Blagden, who was going to play the second half of the season, will be going to play for the UNB Varsity Reds so Saint John will have an open 20 year old spot.
