did they? I haven't seen this, I seen they traded the 40th they acquired and a 2024 2nd but I don't see anything about the 27th. I saw somewhere on Twitter, can't remember where hmm ok, any idea what they traded it for?

hmm ok, any idea what they traded it for? oh thank you. Well having higher end picks didn't last long lol...we now only have the 21st?? Getting our own in 2025 back is nice and all but it's going to be another year 0 type year if this team doesn't recoup some more draft picks this draft...

I wish I knew what this teams direction is in terms of year they want to compete. Most of their good young guys are 2005 born meaning next year would be the ideal year to compete with them, but the rest of this roster doesn't seem good enough for that to be the year, and we don't exactly have the assets either...so maybe 2025 or 2026 makes more sense? But then again if we don't get any more high picks in this draft, building for then doesn't make much sense either.
hope Gordie knows what he's doing...

It looks like that trade is connected to the deal with Valdor at christmas. They gave Bathurst a 2023 1st, which was flipped to Blainville to complete the Tourigny trade.

Here is the final Melanson trade: Melanson(2003) 4th 2023 to Sherbrooke for 2nd 2023(Bat) 1st 2024(She) Rolens(2003)-at the draft Bishop(2004) not terrible in the end, Roelens could have a big season for us or we can move him for at least the equivalent of a 2nd rounder. I expect Bishop to potentially be moved as well, our blue line is clogged. the 2024 1st is still the biggest asset for sure.

I think they were aiming too high and ended up doing an adequate deal instead of a good or great one. If they can flip Bishop and Rolens for big value it may work out.

If Roelens is going to be flipped, I wonder who we bring in as OA's besides Orr. IMO if Forster is back as an OA that'll be the worst possible decision they could make. Give that roster spot to an OA that deserves it or a young guy to develop.

Not sure what your defence looks like this coming season or if there's a need there but if Matteo Mann ends up in CB after the NHL Draft like is rumoured and they end up with Cam MacDonald as a 20, I imagine Conor Shortall would end up being available not exactly a top 20 but a rugged guy who would eat up minutes and is a good locker room guy by all accounts.

Ideally this team has to play Higgins, Perron, and Clements the most, so a #4 guy to play alongside them wouldn't be terrible by any means. I highly doubt we buy big on an OA or 2 anyways so maybe Shortall works.

Being left with the 21st pick as our highest is tough when we had 20, 21, and 27. Like I mentioned before it would definitely help if we knew what the direction was for this team then it would be better to understand some of the trades. I know some of these trades involved finalizing previous deals as well so things had to be done. Roelens can probably get us a 2nd + 3rd back if I had to guess, he's one of the better OA's available for sure. I doubt Dywer is done as well so we will see what happens. There's still rumors of Henneberry being moved as well.
