No surprises - good or bad. Are Lounsbury, Auger and Grenier showing up on August 19th with the rookies because of their injuries last year? I can’t imagine that any of them are really in danger of not making the roster.

Lounsbury could be a combo of the injury and the fact that he is local and this is the easiest/most convenient way for him to get on the ice/in the gym.

Flemming(18) Gould(16) Bishop(18) Cornforth(17) Eiserman(16) Lund(19) Mercer(19) Rozzi(19) Mostly NCAA guys along with a few guys who were on the outside looking in for roster spots. Would have been nice if they could have got Gould to show up for 48 hours, but obviously he was drafted for his upside, not commitment to playing in the Q. Can’t imagine we ever see any of those NCAA guys suit up here. I wonder if Bishop finds a spot in the Q this year? From the AN article, it sounded like Moncton is willing to release him and let him find another place to play. I’m interested to see whether Pellitteri and Niles are legit contenders for roster spots or whether they’re just getting attention because they’re from the US. Neither was played in the select 16s / 17s camp for the US this year - usually an indicator how they’re viewed in comparison to other players in their age group.

Most of the competition for jobs would seem to be up front ... likely only one or two jobs in play on the blueline, backup goalie job available. Up front, we would have eight returnees who all seem safe (once we get to one OA, so Daniel/Trenholm battling assuming they keep the two D-men), plus Sumpf, Carrier and Desnoyers who would appear to be locks ... likely 2-3 jobs up for grabs. Glas would seem to be a leading contender, but could be a number of guys pushing for the last couple of spots (Deslauriers and Legare are highish 2022 draft picks, some promising FAs in Gazquez, Penney, Gosselin; Cormier might be a late bloomer coming off a huge year in midget).

Locks(12) Carrier(16) Collard(18) Daniel/Trenholm(20) Desnoyers(16) Glas(17) Lounsbury(18) Loshing(19) Mercier(18) Muller(19) Stumpf(18) Smith(17) Auger(19)(inj) Favorites(8) Sampson(17) Gazquez(18) Gosselin(17) Schlender(16) Supprien(18) Niles(17) Deslauriers(17) Legare(17) rest are longshots They probably keep 14 with Auger not playing most of the 1st half.

You listed 12 locks. Muller is alright but if he's not a 20 next season then he's not a lock this year to me.

I could see him being traded if A-he brings back a decent pick(3-5) and B-if the younger guys have very good camps. He is a very young 19(very late birthday) and plays a good defensive game.

If you hope to have a competitive team this year, which the Cats do, Mueller brings a high floor to the table. It is also not inconceivable that his game takes a big jump forward from 18 to 19, as many players do once they have a couple of seasons under their belt.

The WC will have a fairly young team up front with two 16 year olds, having a center that can play tough matchups and has WJHC experience is nice to have. Again, unless they have too many young guys and not enough spots and he can bring back a good pick, not an 8th or 9th.

He still has to prove himself. Hopefully had a good off season and can take the next step as Jimmy alluded to.

Anyone have insight on who might be the favorite for the backup to Steinman?
