Thoughts on what you would like to see or think the cats will do this coming trade period .
After what I have seen , I would like them to pick up a Top 10 D-man and see what happens, if they can get a good faceoff guy with out trading away too much that would be a good move as well.

Coughlin or Gill from Rimouski would be great adds that fit our cycle if they could land one of them. I would also be inquiring on Justin Gendron in Victoriaville.
Auger could be moved now or kept as our own rental then moved in the off season. Deslauriers , dubreuil would likely be moved if we did upgrade but don’t hold a whole lot of value.
Decisions would have to be made on the euro front. Neither will be impact players this year or next , no real knock to them as they’re 06s. I don’t know why they didn’t opt to go with an 05.

I doubt Rimouski moves Coughlin or Gill when they will likely be hosting the 2025 Memorial Cup. I could see Auger being moved at the trade period. Use those assets to acquire Luke Patterson from Cape Breton. I wouldn’t be against acquiring Justin Gendron but I’d hold off on that one until the draft. |

I think the reason you don't see Zielinski as impact is because he isn't providing a ton of offense as a euro. He's a defensive defenseman first and I think he's fine as a top 4 d, although he's probably more of 5th d on a serious contender. No reason he can't be a top 4 d next season. We have enough offense first guys on the team already. Agreed on Glas though, he seems to have decent finish but he's mostly unnoticeable out there. They'll want to add someone more high end next season with their 1st pick. Ive said in another thread I'd be game for moving Glas and picks for Komarov to try and get to round 3 this year and see what happens. |

I personally don't see the fit for Luke Patterson, I know he's a local guy but... he's struggling this year and just scored his first of the season this afternoon.
If they do go after a former Moncton Flyer next year, Dyllan Gill or Dylan MacKinnon, either of which would be a really solid add for a contending team.

If they do go after a former Moncton Flyer next year, Dyllan Gill or Dylan MacKinnon, either of which would be a really solid add for a contending team. The only reason would be as a buy low candidate and he fits the cycle. No way I'd be paying top dollar for him, and you'd need to move 1 forward out. The team as is just doesn't have a lot of "needs" this season. The forward group is extremely balanced and versatile. There's a mix of size, speed and youth. If it were me I'd be upgrading on Trenholm and get a 20 year old to fill out the top 6, but I just can't see the team doing that. Ritchie seems like he wanted him badly and overpaid to get him. On D, you could definitely add a top 4 guy, and overall defense is the biggest weakness of the team, but you'd need to move someone out or accept scratching 1 of Grenier/AGF/Zielinski each game, or leave another hole on D next season by moving 1 out. I find that hard to envision as well even though it would make a lot of sense if you want to get to round 3 this year. I really have no idea what moves they are going to make this year. With the current rosters I think they could go toe to toe with anyone in the playoffs if they are playing well, but I could also see them getting swept in round 2. |

Shawinigan already had enough of Barbashev. They traded him to Rimouski for Sprynar.
I still would rather have Barbashev + 2 2nd round picks over Trenholm and Glas.

What would be a reasonable offer for Tyler Peddle? He would seem like a guy who needs a change of scenery, would be back next year as a 19 year old ... which lines up well with our timeline ... What would the cost be? Something like Auger plus the Drummondville 2nd we hold??

But Peddle would seem to fit the profile of the kind of guy the Cats might be looking to acquire … |
