Does Stella have inside knowledge on the NCAA? If he is right and things changed he built a great team. The first three picks that we know will report are great picks and if he can convince a few more guys to report the team will be. Very strong in a couple of years. Next what will be traded in August to get an OA forward. What does he do for the euro draft? The rumor that is going around is that the 48 hour rule could soon become a 2 year rule. Gagne mentioned it in a press conference before the draft.

Morin might come north for a couple of years if the option is open and it doesn't stop him from playing NCAA. The other guys might consider it if it doesn't stop NCAA as well. SJ can still draft an import assuming Mateiko is NHL drafted. They will likely have the rights to 3 until they make a decision.

So the path to rebuilding for a fan base frustrated with losing is to bring in the kids who plan on leaving after all that early development is out of the way. Sounds absolutely infuriating as a fan.

Or we see a lot of 18-19 seasons. Or maybe 2 years becomes just eligible to play NCAA...who knows.

Having no idea what rules in other leagues will benefit and what will hurt seems like a no win to me. The life span of a player in this league is too short to get into 1-2 year players at an age where development swings are wild.

A quick search on instagram showed an interesting trend... almost, if not all, of the Americans they picked are followed by and/or following Egan Beveridge. Will be interesting to see what happens.

It could be very interesting if the NCAA change the deal for players. Now that the draft is over what do you think Stella should get for Mateiko? Should he try and land some high end 08 kids? This season looks like it will a long one will it be better for the new draft kids to play at this level or play U18 or jrA?

Wildcats could have closed a deal on day one and day two of the draft, but didn't.

The biggest problem with the last run was never properly insulating our 02s (until the Inniss/Girouard trades, we had no real 01s until our 02s were 18). In a perfect world, we keep some good 06s and 07s so that we can build to the year that our 08s challenge (and perhaps surprise before that).

So what do we have for 06 or 07 that we want to keep around? Anymot, Miller, Duhamel, Maclean, Groulx, Beveridge, Reynolds are the others we try to have around the 08 group?

Robinson Maybe Daley if he comes back Beaulieu, Calder, Beaudry, Beaudoin could potentially play, but are likely 4th liners It also remains to be seen what happens with Richard. There is still potential there, but time is running out fast.

I would think this year they keep some 05s and give more ice time to the 06 & 07 who they think can keep team competitive plus get the 1st and 2nd rounders ice time if they are ready. Robinson should be given the net and get him a solid back up.

Hey, if the price was set and the Cats didn’t want to pull the trigger, fine. Hello, Rimouski! If the Oceanic could put together a decent offer I’d be all for it. Mr Irving has been jealous of the Seadogs success for years. I mean, after all, look who the new coach is! And look at who the new defense consultant is! Imitation is the greatest form of flattery right? Part of me would love to see Mateiko in Rimouski blue knocking out the Wildcats in their season of destiny 😜

Not that that they didn't benefit from it themselves. But some teams will take a lesser return to avoid helping a rival. That being said, I agree and would prefer he be moved outside the division so we don't have to cheer against him as often.
