I agree I would prefer not to see Mateiko in our division. What should the asking price be?

I agree I would prefer not to see Mateiko in our division. What should the asking price be? Barrett has a weird mention of a Jul 3 transaction date in his article. I wonder if this means that there will be a window open on Import draft day to trade imports (happened previously the year that SJ moved Salda). Now that the draft is over, the prices probably change a little. I would have loved Goguen from Rimouski, but now that he's off the table, that 2025 Moncton first has to be available (yes, the one SJ moved to them). Cape Breton isn't a great fit now that they have Zielinski and Milota, but I would have to imagine that one of Pilling/Foley would have to be in a deal at this point. If Moncton was that close, then there is a specific request from the SJ side. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm still assuming that it involves Gabe Smith (because of his age and because he looks like he could be better than the role that he played last year). There is also Chicoutimi who have a bajillion assets and could make a deal work no matter what.

Going in a slightly different direction with a projected lineup, if SJ built one off what they have right now (assuming that everyone leaning NCAA stays that way), it is probably something like:
Mateiko - Miller - Peddle Simek - Beveridge - Reynolds Rozzi - Groulx - Yared Calder - Beaulieu - Beaudry Beaudoin
Tivey - Ianniello Bilodeau - Mann Amyot - Duhamel MacLean Richard
Robinson Girard/invite
(Note: I highly doubt a 16 year-old would make the team as a goalie and inviting a bunch of 19s makes sense this year).
If anyone leaning NCAA comes, they would be top 9 FW or top 4D.

I would assume Scanzano would be here as well

I would assume Scanzano would be here as well Scanzano depends on who else is here. Playing this year in midget where he'd be one of the top players is definitely not a bad thing, but he sure as heck isn't cracking a roster where Duhamel is the 6th D. Also, if Chartrand comes, he realistically kicks one of the older D off the roster. I still think SJ acquires an overaged forward (though if there are any surprise arrivals up front, an overaged goalie would work too), which takes one of those guys out. I also still believe that Bilodeau could move at some point between now and the end of the Christmas window to make another spot. Without Chartrand, that could leave: Ianniello/Tivey - Mann Bilodeau - Scanzano Amyot - Duhamel MacLean Richard where we will obviously rotate D a lot, but there is no harm with sending Scanzano back and potentially calling him up at Christmas. No matter how you shake it, SJ is not lacking in D depth.

I sure hope we don't go with 3 OA at def We need one up front. I would have something like this till Christmas then trade Bilodeau and Tivey,
Mateiko - OA - Peddle Simek - Beveridge - Reynolds Rozzi - Miller - Yared Calder - Groulx - Beaulieu Beaudoin
Tivey - Bilodeau Amyot - Mann MacLean - Duhamel-Scanzano
I don't see any reason to bring back Ianniello and the organization needs to find a place for Richard to play more.
Robinson Girard/invite

I feel Mateiko will be moved in August.
Simek - OA - Peddle Mateiko trade? - Beveridge - Reynolds Rozzi - Miller - Yared Calder - Groulx - Beaulieu Tivey - Bilodeau Amyot - Mann MacLean - Duhamel-Scanzano
I agree SJ should give Richards a chance to play somewhere else. I am not a fan of 8 D as one guys sits to much. Let them play u18/jrA and call up when needed.

IMO, I think SJ does everything possible to try to convince Chartrand to come. I also think they call Chicoutimi and see what it would take to get the rights to Tynan Lawrence.

Fwiw, on top of the Crickard connection (assistant at the YOG), his advisor is former Sea Dog C-O Rousseau. For Lawrence, any deal would be contingent on him reporting.

I think it would be great if Chartrand reports but I really can’t see it. I think him not being at the draft speaks which way he is going. The NCAA rule would need to be changed before Sept 1.

We'll see. Him, Yared, and Rozzi were all tagging each other in instagram stories on Friday night after the first round. Appears they're friends, or at least know each other fairly well.

I'd rather have the compensation pick at next year's draft than two years of Chartrand at 16 and 17. Not that those would be the only two possibilities, but if someone has their heart set on NCAA they likely want to make the jump at 18 as opposed to 20, even if the rules would allow them to stay longer.
If he forfeits his NCAA eligibility under the current rules then that would be fantastic.

You want to talk about a league of haves and have nots, wait until kids aren’t happy with their situation or the best players demand to be traded or head to the NCAA. The transfer portal and NIL has completely ruined college sports.. this will completely ruin the CHL.

The NCAA possible rule change could be good and bad for the Q. Has anyone seen any updates as the last thing I found was the D1 coaches and Atlantic directors do not want a change.
